Abundant outdoor recreation opportunities and a rich cultural heritage characterize the Upper Clark Fork River corridor including Beavertail Hill State Park and numerous Fishing Access Sites throughout the watershed. This position is responsible for routine patrolling public engagement and maintenance activities across these sites supporting safe and accessible recreational opportunities for the public. Duties include interacting with visitors providing information on site rules and resources maintaining facilities and grounds and monitoring site conditions at Fishing Access Sites along the Upper Clark Fork River watershed. Limited duties may also occur at Milltown State Park the site of a federally led Superfund dam removal and river restoration project. This position is based out of the FWP Region 2 office in Missoula Montana. The incumbent must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and during irregular hours often without immediate supervision. The position requires good overall physical condition to meet the demands of outdoor work including facility maintenance and grounds work. The incumbent must be willing to work in a variety of locations conditions and schedules. Weekend holiday and evening work is common and expected. Occasional travel outside the region may be required.
The Recreation Technician provides general operational support for recreational facilities and public use areas along the Upper Clark Fork River corridor including Beavertail Hill State Park Milltown State Park and Fishing Access Sites. The position monitors and patrols recreation sites by foot or vehicle; maintains frequent and effective public contact; may deliver interpretive talks and assists with educational programs; collects fees as required; supports compliance with recreation permits and site regulations; observes documents and reports incidents safety concerns and maintenance needs; assists with protecting natural and cultural resources through visitor education and site monitoring; performs routine light-duty maintenance to ensure facilities and grounds are safe clean and operational; assists the Recreation Ranger with assigned duties; and performs other duties as assigned.
