Job Summary

Join a progressive Council just 15mins from the Hobart CBD.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager Civil Works to assist the Civil Supervisor in the delivery of Councils civil infrastructure program. This role is responsible for managing projects from inception through to completion including tender documentation contract administration and coordination of internal and external stakeholders.

You will play a key role in planning delivering and monitoring major and minor capital works projects with a strong focus on roads stormwater and associated infrastructure. About the Role:

As the Project Manager Civil Works you will:

  • Plan manage deliver and monitor major and minor capital works projects ensuring outcomes are achieved on time within budget and to required standards.
  • Manage detailed engineering projects and programs from concept design through to construction and completion.
  • Prepare and assess tender documentation and administer construction contracts including valuation of claims.
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors and internal construction teams.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation regulations and Council policies.
  • Provide high-level customer service and build effective relationships with senior management community members and external agencies.
  • Participate in strategic planning for future Works and Infrastructure developments.
  • Apply sound technical knowledge in the design and construction of civil infrastructure including roads footpaths stormwater and bridges.
  • Assist with financial costing budget development monitoring and asset management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project and contract management processes.
  • Provide advice leadership and guidance to staff and support learning development and performance management.
  • Ensure workplace health and safety standards are met and maintained across all projects

    About You:

    Youll bring:

    • Diploma of Civil Construction Civil Engineering Project Management or equivalent with extensive practical experience in civil construction or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience in contract management and administration of construction projects preferably within a local government or public authority.
    • Strong technical understanding of civil structural hydraulic hydrology geotechnical and environmental engineering principles.
    • Proven ability to deliver projects on time within budget and to required quality standards.
    • Sound knowledge of work site safety including high-risk construction activities and advanced traffic control.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office and Council-based systems
