Role Summary
Reporting into the Head of Privacy Operations the role will be responsible for developing maintaining driving and overseeing the execution of Privacy Risk and Compliance Framework activities that support the implementation of the Global Privacy Program Policies and Standard across Northern Trust globally.
Major Duties
Focuses on identifying mapping out developing maintaining and overseeing the scope of the Privacy Risk and Compliance Framework that supports the implementation of the Global Privacy Program Policy and Standards across Northern Trust.
Lead the 2LOD oversight of privacy breach program PII data lifecycle and PII data protection compliance
Provides technical expertise to resolve risk issues associated with data privacy and protection of personal information to enhance overall risk framework
Carry out monitoring activities to ensure risks associated with privacy events and remediation plans are implemented as necessary
Partner with Business Units to proactively mitigate privacy risks and reduce the occurrence of privacy incidents
Review 1LOD risk and controls self- assessments impacting privacy risks
Develop implement and maintain risk assessment processes for privacy data risks including identification evaluation and mitigation of risks associated with data handling processing and storage.
Design and monitor the effectiveness of data protection controls ensuring compliance with organizational privacy policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Seasoned multi-disciplinary professional with extensive regulatory technical business and functional knowledge and experience in Privacy Program and Framework development capabilities development of Privacy Policies and Standards; identify the need for and complete risk assessments; develop Privacy Metrics and Management Information reports to internal and external stakeholders; and effectively liaises with Business Units and Operational Functions as required.
Oversee the execution of privacy risk monitoring testing and reporting developing metrics and management information to inform stakeholders and support continuous improvement.
Supports the Head of Privacy Operations and Chief Privacy Officer with the development maintenance execution of the Privacy Risk Framework and Target Operating Model.
Acts as key point of contact for Privacy operations activities including but not limited to the following:
Be the Trusted Adviser to support Business Units and Operational Functions to embed Privacy risk and compliance into day-to-day activities and keep privacy risk management and compliance foremost in everything that we do.
Oversees the review interpretation and dissemination of current and proposed laws and regulations for assigned Subject Matter Expert risk areas.
Provides consultancy-type privacy risk service to the Business offering pro-active competent and pragmatic advice interpretation and clarification on Privacy Framework regulatory issues
Provide expert guidance and recommendations to business units and operational functions on privacy compliance risk management and incident response best practices.
Works closely with Global Privacy Team Risk Compliance Technology Data Governance and other stakeholders as necessary and support others with less experience or knowledge of specific compliance topics to drive and sustain a culture of Privacy compliance.
Represents Global Privacy in Business reviews ad hoc programmes and other internal/external forums as required.
Compiles and provides timely accurate concise and high-quality reports on Data Privacy Risk to the Head of Privacy Operations Chief Privacy Officer and other stakeholders as directed.
Provides support on other Privacy risk reduction initiatives as directed.
Develops creative ways for embedding Privacy risk into key operational processes in a way that allows partners to clearly understand their compliance duties.
Support training and awareness initiatives to embed privacy risk management and data protection practices throughout the organization.
Identifies situations to strengthen the management of regulatory risk including those outside of their assigned SME areas and recommend plans to address these.
Knowledge/Skills
Seasoned multi-disciplinary professional with extensive regulatory technical business and functional knowledge and experience in Privacy Program and Framework development capabilities development of Privacy Policies and Standards;
Knowledge of risk management and strategic goals for the banks business and the financial services industry.
In depth knowledge of regulations impacting Privacy Risk and financial services regulations acquired through formal education and work experience is required.
Proven ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to diverse and senior audiences.
Proven track record in leading privacy risk and incident management and compliance strategies policy and governance frameworks implementation of controls to effectively manage compliance risks.
Experience and knowledge of existing working practices in the financial services industry including provision of technical advice risk management outsourcing information security controls data protection impact assessments and governance and compliance.
Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities whilst maintaining focus on organization and team activities.
Strong written and oral communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients and analyze information and apply regulations.
Proven exceptional learning agility with a keen desire to support the learning of others.
Influencing and conflict resolution skills.
Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
