Job Summary:

Childrens Hospital Colorado Springs is a tertiary community-based hospital serving Southern Colorado since its opening in 2019. A 115-bed Level II Trauma Center we provide comprehensive pediatric care with a 49-bed Med/Surgical Unit a 16-bed PICU and a 50-bed 2024 we cared for over 8000 admissions performed 5400 surgeries and welcomed 38000 patients in our Emergency Department.

The Colorado Springs Medical Director for Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) provides strategic and operational leadership for inpatient pediatric care at Childrens Hospital Colorado Colorado close partnership with Nursing leadership Clinical Directors/Managers and the CHCO-COS Chief Medical Officer (CMO) the Medical Director ensures delivery of safe high-quality efficient and patient- and family-centered care aligned with the mission and values of Childrens Hospital Colorado.

The Medical Director collaborates with physician leaders across Southern Colorado PHM Section leadership and key institutional partners including Quality and Patient Safety Clinical Effectiveness Patient and Family Experience Informatics Pharmacy and Business leadership. The role serves as a champion for CHCO initiatives related to clinical operations quality safety and patient and provider experience and supports the Sections partnerships with community hospitals providing pediatric and newborn care in Southern Colorado.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide physician leadership for inpatient pediatric care delivery at CHCO-COS

  • Develop implement and monitor clinical standards of care

  • Partner with nursing and operational leaders to optimize staffing throughput and care models; ensure effective call schedules and clinical coverage

  • Lead and support multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives

  • Communicate policies expectations and operational updates to providers

  • Support provider orientation education performance evaluation and engagement

  • Champion timely high-quality clinical documentation

  • Development and review of site-specific performance metrics

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Colorado Springs Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

MD or DO

Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Clinically active Pediatric Hospital Medicine provider

Minimum of four (4) years of progressive accomplishments in clinical leadership

Proven administrative experience in the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Associate Professor:

MD or DO

Board Certified in Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Clinically active Pediatric Hospital Medicine provider

Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive accomplishments in clinical leadership

Proven administrative experience in the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Professor:

MD or DO

Board Certified in Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Clinically active Pediatric Hospital Medicine provider

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive accomplishments in clinical leadership

Proven administrative experience in the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Childrens Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sustained clinical experience in pediatric hospital medicine for at least seven (7) years

  • Demonstrated leadership and accomplishments in complex organizational environments

  • Documented vision and success in building clinical programs

  • Strong communication collaboration and change-management skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively and interface with learners faculty health care teams administrators community organizations and donors

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor:

$189500 - $199200

Associate Professor:

$218000 - $228000

Professor:

$256000 - $269700

The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
