About the opportunity

The Industry Liaison Officer builds and maintains strong effective relationships between WorkSafe and key external industry stakeholders to support improved workplace health and safety outcomes. The role focuses on proactive engagement early intervention and effective consultation to help prevent disputes and address emerging issues across industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with peak unions employer representative bodies and government agencies
  • Delivering targeted initiatives presentations and communications to build stakeholder capability and awareness
  • Supporting effective consultation and collaboration in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Identifying and analysing emerging and systemic industry issues and providing strategic advice to operational leaders
  • Representing WorkSafe at industry forums and stakeholder meetings
  • This role requires strong judgement professional communication skills and the ability to operate confidently in complex and sensitive environments contributing to WorkSafes broader objective of reducing workplace harm across Victoria.

About you

You will bring demonstrated experience in developing maintaining and strengthening effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including industry bodies peak unions employer representatives and government agencies. You are skilled in engaging constructively across diverse and complex environments fostering trust and collaboration to support positive health and safety outcomes.

You will have a strong understanding of consultative mechanisms within an occupational health and safety context with the ability to identify emerging issues analyse risks and provide clear authoritative advice. Your approach is impartial considered and evidence-based enabling you to navigate sensitive matters and support early intervention dispute avoidance and issue resolution.

You will bring highly developed written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing briefings correspondence presentations and targeted communication materials. You are confident facilitating discussions and delivering presentations to stakeholder and industry groups and are able to translate complex technical or regulatory information into practical accessible guidance.

You will be well organised adaptable and outcome-focused with strong analytical problem-solving and regulatory experience and skills. Supported by relevant qualifications and significant industry experience you will bring a professional collaborative approach and a strong commitment to building productive stakeholder relationships that support WorkSafes strategic objectives.

A current Australian drivers licence without restrictions is a mandatory requirement of this role.
