Were currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Credit Underwriting Team in the role of Senior Manager Secured Lending.
Reporting directly into the UK Head of Underwriting youll lead a large team of Standard Underwriters across the UK and our Offshore locations in Hyderabad & Manila who are responsible for assessing against our Standard residential and Buy To Letmortgage applications including manual underwriting affordability analysis and risk-based decision making. Youll work closely with our Secured Lending Product & Credit Risk Teams to help shape the future of our underwriting approach working with new technologies to support quicker decisioning for our customers. In this role youll:
- Lead and develop your team of c.300 employees working closely with the colleagues onshore and offshore to ensure a coordinated approach to enhancing client experience
- Bring inspirational leadership by describing implementing and embedding a culture of solid risk management together with encouraging enthusiasm and commitment from your team
- Train and coach your team to make accurate lending decisions which consider a range of factors and circumstances to achieve good outcomes for both our customers and the bank
- Perform detailed affordability assessments and provide technical guidance to your team of Underwriters and relevant stakeholders
- Role model a continuous improvement culture by identifying process improvement and simplification and drive these forwards to optimise costs
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Mortgage underwriting experience with the ability to use advanced originations software
- A strong people manager who is able to inspire and motivate a similar sized team both on and offshore
- Ability to challenge process and always identifying areas of improvements coupled with a strong background in change management
- Excellent decision-making analytical and communication skills
- Collaborative and calm under pressure with a pragmatic approach to risk
