Basic Job Functions:

The Level 1 Process Control Engineer is responsible for automation systems including design upgrades programming and improvements. This role leads projects from selection through final testing and acceptance collaborates closely with Maintenance and Operations teams to provide technical expertise and assists in developing maintenance teams and optimizing operations. Schedule flexibility is required including working on weekends holidays rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Level 1 distinction is in reference to the automation system architecture (See ISA-95 or Purdue hierarchy of control) and is not indicative of seniority or degree of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in electrical/electronic engineering degree fields or equivalent experience
Two years of experience in industrial process control/automation

Preferred Qualifications:

Steel Mill experience- Melting Casting Rolling Coating
Project management and commissioning experience
Experience with Level 1 control systems (PLCs HMIs motor drives hydraulic controls)
- Rockwell Automation Suite Siemens Technologies TMEIC and other automation programs
Experience with industrial communication networks
