About the opportunity:
The supportive housing model is centred on strengthening individuals and communities by developing sustainable and affordable housing. Vivs Place brings people together in a managed building which includes a ground floor community space including a trauma informed design with communal kitchen dining and living spaces childrens play areas medical suites consulting rooms and office space. An essential element to the project is creating an environment where there is both the perception and reality of safety.

Supportive housing is accepted as being a model through which people have safety from interference exploitation or violence from outsiders. This is particularly pertinent with the target group being women and children who have experienced homelessness especially as a result of family violence.

The Team Leader will manage a small team of workers within the program or service and directly support clients where needed. Reporting to the Coordinator Resident Engagement the Team Leader is responsible for the supervision of the members of their team acting as a mentor to help facilitate and enhance the on-the-job performance of REOs by reviewing the completed tasks and ensuring effective client outcomes

This is a full-time (76 hours a fortnight) role based at Dandenong.

What youll be doing:

    • Engagement with tenants in an informal capacity working from a strength based client focused framework.
    • Well-being of tenants monitored through informal engagement and communicating issues to support and/or tenancy staff as they arise.
    • Referrals to external services facilitated as required.
    • Community partnerships established and maintained and collaborative work with partner agencies who deliver programs and services to residents in the building.
    • Assisting community partners in facilitating events programs and other initiatives from the communal spaces including managing room bookings and access to building amenities.
    • Provision of phone concierge services.
    • Well maintained utilised and updated range of systems that have been established at Front of House e.g. Communications Log Critical Incident Reporting Visitor Log Visiting Professionals Register.
    • Entry and exit of all tenants visitors contractors and visiting professions to the building monitored and managing visitor access as required.
    • Incidents responded to as and when they arise.

What were looking for (key selection criteria):

    • A relevant tertiary qualification in human services and direct experience in the delivery of services to clients with complex needs relating to homelessness (desirable).
    • Demonstrated experience in client facing human services social work or other relevant discipline with a preference for an understanding of housing and homelessness policy context and systems.
    • Experience knowledge and competency in advanced casework practices including demonstrated ability to practice a range of interventions of case planning and case management approaches conducting complex assessments and experience in working with clients who present with complex needs.
    • Ability to provide supervision that is supportive and promotes professional development and accountability.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and/or previous experience managing staff.
    • High degree of initiative and analytical skills including well-developed organisational and time-management skills Understanding the effect of trauma on clients and vicarious trauma on staff and ensuring staff wellbeing and sound practices to support clients.

$52.53 - $54.91 an hour
