Responsibilities
Functional Demands
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction) and handles (seizing holding grasping turning or working with hands).
Essential Functions
- Communicates with and among physicians supervisors and office staff in the operations of the practices in their section.
- Provides leadership direction and guidance to office management staff and physicians for whom he or she is responsible.
- Assists with ongoing training of providers in coding/Athena billing practices.
- Attends medical staff meetings when requested to train on site.
- Responsible for the coding of all inpatient/surgical accounts ensuring compliancy with coding regulations.
Oversees all aspects of patient account and coding operations and staffing.
- Ensures timely processing of available patient visit claims by patient accounts staff
- Conducts ongoing denials review & training meetings with appropriate parties.
- Provides weekly updates to key senior leaders of ongoing work tasks/projects in patient accounting.
- Interviews and evaluates staff for which he or she is responsible.
Develops/refines workflow processes for patient accounts staff.
- Works with Finance to develop budgeting for projected revenue and expenses.
Ensures 90-Day and annual competencies and reviews are completed on all staff.
Develops and distributes reports as requested by physician(s) Director and Sr. Vice President.
- Works closely with credentialing staff to ensure provider has been enrolled timely to bill for services.
Attends training courses and seminars as related to the functions of patient accounting and medical coding.
