Onsite School-Based Federal Contract Opportunity

(Candidates may reside in or near Pierre Rapid City Bismarck Sioux Falls Fargo or be open to travel)
We are actively recruiting licensed and nationally certified Occupational Therapists in preparation for an anticipated federal contract award with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) at the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School.
Positions will begin immediately upon contract award and completion of required clearances.
Qualified candidates selected during this recruitment phase will be offered placement contingent upon award.
Position Overview
- Role: Occupational Therapist (OT) School-Based
- Location: Eagle Butte SD (onsite)
- Schedule:
- 23 days per week
- Up to 8 hours per day
- Approximately 36 weeks per school year
- Start Date: Upon contract award and clearance approval
- Contract Type: Independent Contractor (1099) under a federal service contract
This opportunity may be well-suited for traveling or contract Occupational Therapists seeking a structured school-year placement.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group occupational therapy services aligned with student IEPs
- Conduct OT evaluations using standardized and non-standardized tools
- Complete evaluations and reports within federal and state timelines
- Attend IEP meetings eligibility meetings and collaborate with school teams
- Maintain weekly progress reports and compliant documentation
- Utilize evidence-based practices including Zones of Regulation
- Support students teachers and families through consultation and collaboration
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
Applicants must meet all requirements:
- Bachelors Masters or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy (ACOTE-accredited)
- Active unrestricted OT license (any U.S. state)
- Current NBCOT certification
- Minimum 2 years of OT experience (school-based preferred)
- U.S. citizenship (required for federal contract)
- Ability to pass federal background checks fingerprinting and child safety clearance
- Willingness and availability to work onsite in Eagle Butte SD
