Position Summary
The Shipping Specialist III for Merrychef will be responsible for coordinating daily shipping requirements for freight shipping product internationally to customers resolving discrepancies and will work closely with the Warehouse manager to meet customer demand and monthly goals.
Major Accountability:
- Create and execute plans to optimize freight movements to achieve supply chain efficiency for consumer products and minimize freight costs.
- Communicate effectively with Sales and internal/external customers to ensure timely delivery of product. Resolve issues as they arise in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with Welbilt processes and programs including Government trade compliance programs.
- Prepare documentation ensure shipping compliance and provide expertise for import and export shipping.
Key Responsibilities
- Support buyers with network logistic activities of inbound shipments.
- Manage all day-to-day network logistics activities of outbound shipments carriers and rate requests to optimize inventory levels while ensuring cost appropriateness and maintain compliance with processes and programs.
- Create and issue customs documents as required. Work with Sales and customer service on trade compliance issues and questions.
- Create and issue HAZMAT compliant shipping documents and ensure compliance with DOT HAZMAT CFR 149 standards.
- Perform manual freight quotes and provide freight cost estimates as requested.
- Manage freight claim process including filing claims and settlement agreements.
- Effectively manage closed loop solutions as applicable.
- Manage the freight pool for the distribution center.
- Provides backup and support for team leaders on the floor and customer service as needed.
- Work with customers to execute expedited shipping requests.
- Provide expertise and execution to evaluate shipping methods for product selecting the appropriate shipping method (truck rail air and ocean) for orders.
- Maintain organized clean and efficient warehouse work areas.
- Ensure proper use of equipment and safe material handling practices.
- Support safety audits drills and continuous safety improvement programs.

QualificationsQualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant logistics shipping and transportation experience.
- Strong communication (written verbal and presentation) and relationship building skills.
- Must be customer service-oriented and able to interact professionally with all team members.
- Excellent multitasking skills and attention to detail.
- Strong sense of urgency and time-management skills.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to work effectively with a team.
- Comprehensive understanding of LTL freight (carriers pricing structures claims NMFCs freight class).
- Experience in logistics/transportation network and understanding of Less than Truckload and Truckload modes closed loop solutions pool distribution and claims management.
- Advanced excel skills (utilizing pivot tables data aggregations enrichment VLOOKUPs and report building)
- Ability to analyze data and problem solve creatively leveraging internal and external resources
- Working knowledge and understanding of DOT HAZMAT CFR 149
- Knowledge of shipping standards for ocean air rail and truck freight.
- Consistently align with Company core values.
- Must be fluent in English language. Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment
- This position requires regular physical activity including walking and lifting up to 35lbs.
- Ability to work effectively in a normal office/warehouse environment.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Day Shift - extended shifts or hours may be required as needed.
- Onsite role located at the Coppell TX Customer Experience Center.
