The Registered Nurse is a member of an interdisciplinary care team. This role provides patient centric care and is primarily responsible for nursing assessment and diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation.

In addition to the essential functions noted in the Registered Nurse job description the Professional Practice Coordinator (PPC) will be responsible foronboarding and orientationofclinical staffguiding continuing education providingstaff withopportunities for professionalgrowth anddevelopmentfunctioning as an educational resourceand subject matter expertfor staffpromoting improvement initiativesand processessupporting and implementingevidence-basedpractice standardssupporting unit-specific needsandprovidingdirect patient carein an RN capacity. This position works collaboratively with Advanced Practice Registered Nurses frontline staff multi-disciplinary healthcare teams and organizational leadership.

This position will be 1.0FTE/full-time Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses physical emotional social and spiritual needs and evaluates patients adaptation to health changes
  • Develops a plan of care based on patients disease symptoms and response to treatment
  • Educates patients families and caregivers on disease processes treatment side effects and symptom management
  • Coordinates with inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
  • Refers patients families and caregivers as appropriate to other clinical resources/professionals such as social work home health care clinical nutrition etc.
  • Implements evaluates and modifies plan of care
  • Integrates research and evidence based knowledge into clinical practice

The PPC will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Plandevelop andfacilitatenew hireorientation curriculum
  • Supportprofessionalgrowthanddevelopmentfor frontline staffbysupplyingresourcesorganizingand teachingclassesanddemonstrations andprovidingeducational opportunities
  • Function as unit-basededucation andpracticeresource
  • Assess professional nursing practiceand intervenewhen knowledge gaps areidentifiedto promotestandardizedevidence-based nursing care
  • Contribute to systemwide initiativesby supporting change management and providing unit-basedexpertise
  • Support students and learners
  • Activelycreateevaluateandmaintainup-to-date policiesprocedures and staff and patient educationmaterialsto reflect evidence-based standards for clinical practice and research
  • Actively collaborate with leadership to setorganizational goalsunit goals implement process improvements and measure outcomes
  • Serve asa consultant for ElectronicHealthRecordimprovement & optimization asasubject matter expert
  • Participatein or leadcommittees and workgroups to supportorganizational practice
  • Support unit-specificresearch implementation as needed
  • Assistin investigation and response to incident reports filed in Patient Safety Net
  • Provide direct patient care in a unit-based RN capacityper RN job description

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must have current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or current NLC multistate license (MSL); and must upgrade to an MSL primary state of residence WA within 60 days of hire. This requirement may be waived under specific circumstances subject to approval.
  • Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
  • Additional certification may be required dependent upon department.
  • CITI Training Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Research (within 6 months of hire)
  • ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card (within 6 months of hire)if required byunit.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by looking and listening for cues asking open-ended questions exploring cues using pauses screening responses and clarifying response.
  • Ability to effectively listen by using reflecting acknowledging summarizing empathizing and paraphrasing skill.
  • Ability to effectively provide information by checking what information the person knows already giving small amounts of information at a time using clear terms and avoiding jargon avoiding detail unless it is requested checking for understanding and pausing and waiting for a response.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
  • Master of Science in Nursing Education or Healthcare Leadership
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) or BMT RN
  • ACLS and/or PALS AHA Health Provider Card
  • LEAN or CPI application
  • 2 years of previous RN Oncology experience
The hourly pay range for this position is from $47.64 to $88.19 and pay offered will be based on experience and Nurses are paid on a step-scale basis and are also eligible for shift differentials and other pay premiums such as advanced degree preceptor and certification.
This position will be 1.0FTE/full-time Monday-Friday.
This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
