Job Summary

Position Summary:

Restaurant Operations Manager is proficient in all aspects of the food and beverage service. Duties include shift execution training and development of team and member satisfaction.

Job Specifications/Qualifications: (Min. knowledge skills and abilities required)

- Education/Training (or equivalent): H.S. Degree College Degree* Certification/License*

High school diploma or GED

Some college preferred

Minimum 5 years restaurant experience

Minimum 3 years as a Supervisor

TABC (Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission) certification required 90 days from start date

CPR and AED certification required within 45 days

- Technical or Administrative Knowledge:

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Proficient in POS software - Jonas preferred

- Special Skills and Abilities and/or:

Reliable willingness to learn good attitude with people. Personable / outgoing good with people.

Essential Functions include but not limited to the following:

  • Because of the fluctuating demands of this operation it may be necessary that each Team Member perform a multitude of different functions; therefore as an essential part of your job you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed
  • Attend and contribute to the regular weekly F&B meetings
  • Procedures (Cleaning)
    • Seek out problem areas in daily cleaning and follow-up
    • Follow-up with daily/weekly clean-ups and the cleaning solutions used for each task
    • Maintain a Bentwater clean floor from the beginning to the end of the shift and establish a routine
  • Planning
    • Proactive in staffing for the shift
    • Sense of ownership on the floor and be proactive in planning in all areas of the dining room
    • Use weekly goals to plan out successful shift meetings/shift goals
  • Risk Management
    • Stay informed and current on all areas of Risk Management
    • Fill out accident and injury reports promptly whenever there is an incident with an employee or guest
  • Personnel
    • Understand staff placement and use all available resources to better serve the guest
    • Good working knowledge of each persons task and correctly position personnel to perform these tasks
    • Execute and train all positions for dining room personnel
  • AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Schedules
    • Involvement in the implementation of improving staff systems and standards
    • Maintain staffing and appearance standards and labor efficiency of scheduled shifts
    • Understand the placement of personnel on each shift
  • LEADERSHIP
  • Staff
    • Genuinely concerned with staff and their performance and be seen as approachable by the staff. Positively communicate this concern to the staff one on one or in a group.
    • Know how to give feedback using constructive criticism along with positive reinforcement
    • Look for any performance deficiency as an opportunity to coach or motivate
  • Guest Interaction
    • Have an understanding of the Bentwater philosophy regarding guest relations. This is demonstrated by the Manager having the ability to project a helpful professional image when approaching guests/members.
    • Actively promote repeat business for F & B as well as other departments
    • Be proactive in ensuring quality service and in obtaining feedback from guests
  • Delegation
    • Use delegation to take on new responsibilities and manage others through building relationships and developing new techniques to manage more effectively.
    • Give clear guidelines and proper tools when needed to complete a task
    • Understand that delegation is not abdication
  • Evaluations
    • Use One Minute Manager techniques to improve the staff throughout the shift
    • Evaluate the overall performance of a staff member and can effectively communicate work-related long term goals by judging performance not personal characteristics.
    • Judge the performance of each individual when evaluating and is consistent when issuing reprimands or rewards
    • Can effectively conduct a shift review and follow up with performance goals
  • Organization
    • Use a daily planner/App to achieve goals. Keep an accurate record of goals and follow up on those that have been set
    • Keep written shift goals and record information throughout the shift
    • Take notes on important information at the weekly BEO meetings and begin to apply this information to you management style
  • Creditability
    • Understand the importance of approachability and responds well to coaching
    • Requires minimal outside motivation and self-evaluates well
    • Leads by example and is a role model for the staff
  • Goal Setting
    • Allot time each week to carry out long term projects
    • Carry out and achieve goals set at the manager meetings
    • Complete weekly assignments given by the F & B Director
  • Attitude
    • Be seen as a dependable member of the management team and demonstrate this through a willingness to help out as needed
    • Operate from a proactive rather than a reactive standpoint and encourage staff members to do the same
    • Demand high intensity from the staff - representative of his/her own intensity level
