Job Summary

Position Summary
Functions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team under the direct supervision of a nurse by assisting with monitoring vital signs assisting patients with ADLs provides diversional activities for patients and maintains the milieu to assure a safe environment. This position supports and promotes a recovery-oriented person-centered treatment experience by participating in treatment planning documentation and implementation milieu management and crisis de-escalation.

Essential Job Functions
Assists the nursing staff in the responsibility for day-to-day processing of new admissions in triage in a timely and efficient manner
Responsible for monitoring vital signs of clients in triage and acute care (B/P pulse temperature respiration). Ensures to use appropriate boundaries and respect client rights when performing
Responsible for performing Urine Toxicology Screenings.
Maintains use of universal precautions and maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned area
Ensures to report staffing and/or client needs to Charge Nurse
Acts as liaison between technician staff and Charge Nurse/Clinical staff on assigned projects
Initiates and completes necessary paperwork in a client centered manner essential to patient care (e.g. on admission during inpatient stay or upon close of case)
Appropriately escorts clients to activities as required
Provides psycho-education to the clients as directed by senior staff
Attends meetings as required and participates in in-service and other available educational programs.
Performs all other related duties as required.
On-Call staff should be available for 3 shifts per month one being a weekend and 1 major and 1 minor holiday per calendar year.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (Proof will be requested upon hire)
Certification as a nurses aide (CNA) required
BLS certified
Food Handler Card

Experience:
A compassionate understanding of chemical dependence as a disease
Preference to persons in recovery from chemical dependency
Experience in detoxification services
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of substance abuse knowledge of withdrawal symptoms and knowledge of community resources related to addiction medicine required
Ability to work with addictive clients in a community health setting is essential
Ability to demonstrate special competencies and skills in substance abuse/dependence/opioid treatment women urine screens and phlebotomy
Pass required background checks
Ability to work independently
Knowledge of substance use disorders
Knowledge of withdrawal symptoms
Knowledge of community resources related to addiction medicine
Ability to work with addictive clients in a community health setting is essential

Working Conditions
Direct nursing care requires the ability to lift push pull twist stoop lift up to 50lbs without assistance. Most work takes place in usual office working conditions where the noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones personal interruptions and background noises. Perform duties of a nurse as needed which will include exposure to hazardous materials (such as body fluids needle sticks).
