Job Summary

Are you looking for a local summer internship that offers hands-on experience across civil structural water & natural resources engineering as well as construction management and inspection Otak is getting a jump start on hiring a 2026 Summer Intern for our Louisville Colorado office just minutes from Boulder. Join us to build real-world skills while working alongside experienced professionals on projects around the region that focus on alternative modes of transportation including trails on-street bike lanes transit improvements and much more.

Otak is a leading integrated planning architecture design and project/construction management firm recognized for our exceptional work and commitment to thoughtful community-focused design. As an intern youll work closely with engineers architects planners and support staff who share a passion for practical problem-solving and mindful design.

This internship is up to 40 hours per week (minimum 24 hours or 3 days based on availability) is expected to last through the summer and may extend beyond the start of the school year if schedules allow.

What youll do

  • Perform design support related to roadways trails and site layout including grading drainage/stormwater utilities and erosion control in accordance with local state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • Support the preparation of construction plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
  • Apply AutoCAD and/or GIS skills to produce figures and supporting design documents.
  • Support construction-phase services as needed.

What youll bring

  • Current college junior senior or graduate-level student.
  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Curiosity initiative and involvement beyond academics including engagement in your local community.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salary is based upon candidate experience qualifications and work location as well as market and business considerations.

Salary range: $27-$29 per hour
