What youll do

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Zero Trust Client Platform team. You will oversee the core platform for our desktop and mobile clients (Windows macOS Linux iOS and Android) which protects corporate devices by securely routing traffic to Cloudflares global network for advanced filtering and policy enforcement.

You will play a key role in shaping the teams engineering strategy working with other engineering teams product management and external stakeholders to implement customer-impacting features and meet the teams ambitious goals ofquality reliability and high-availability. You will work closely with your team to maintain the code quality and to build solid testable and well-documented code.

As a manager in our team you will be expected tolead inspire and foster a culture of diversity. You will communicate clearly and with empathy and work towards building a cohesive and collaborative team. You will be expected to interact with our customers and internal stakeholders to identify gaps and areas of improvements in our product and processes alike and to work with your own stakeholders to transform those into innovative actionable and achievable solutions.

The team predominantly usesRust to implement high-performance networking code that runs on multiple platforms. You will be most successful in this role if you have a strong understanding of networking protocols (IP TCP UDP DNS QUIC H/3 proxying etc.) and experience building and maintaining SDKs on Windows macOS and Linux platforms.

Examples of desirable skills knowledge and experience

  • 5 years of experience leading a team of geographically distributed engineers including hiring coaching and professional development
  • Experience shipping multi-platform client applications and SDKs desktop and mobile alike
  • Good understanding of VPN SASE technologies and networking protocols (IP TCP UDP DNS QUIC H/3 proxying etc.)
  • Excellent technical leadership skills driving for very high-quality and low-complexity code with thorough documentation
  • A passion for navigating the challenges of a fast-paced high-growth engineering culture
  • Empathetic proactive and constructive verbal and written communication skills
  • A good understanding of how the big-picture goals inform technical details
  • A drive for implementing tools documentations processes instrumentation and metrics to enhance the teams velocity and performance
