POSITION: Special Education Director
SALARY: $89278 Salary Contract
REPORTS TO: Superintendant
LOCATION: PSIS Omak WA
Basic Functions: This is a Exempt position.Performs The Special Education Director provides leadership oversight and coordination of the districts special education programs to ensure compliance with federal state and tribal regulations. This role is responsible for developing implementing and monitoring high-quality services that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. The director collaborates with administrators teachers families and community agencies to promote inclusive practices student achievement and equitable access to educational opportunities. This role works collaboratively with tribal leadership school administrators families and community partners to uphold tribal sovereignty promote equity and strengthen inclusive educational practices.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
- Requires a masters degree in special education or closely related field.
- Prefer Curretnt Washigtnon State Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement.
- Requires two years of experience in a supervisory role in the education field.
- Requires two years of experience as a school psychologist OR posess a valid OSPI certification in special education.
- Requires valid Washington State Drivers Licence.
- Must have a current First Aid/CPR Card or ability to get them with in 90 days of employment and keep them current.
- Working knoledge of Bueau of Indian Education Guidlines.
- Requires proof of degree/transcripts certifications and THREE written letters of reference along with application.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Requires skills to perform multiple technical teasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
- Requires specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to legal statutes organizational rules etc.
- Requires ability to adher to safety practices applying assessment instruments operating standard office equipment performing standard bookkeeping planning and managing projects preparing and maintaining accurate records Spreadsheet/Excel-Basic Skills using pertinent software applications Word Processing and the use of NASIS.
- Must be able to perform advanced math; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
- Requiers specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include age appropriate activities accounting/bookkeeping principles safety practices and procedures stages of child development standard office machinery basic office computer concepts of grammar and punctuation.
- Requires the ability to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; often gather collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
- Requires flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes.

- Requires problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant.

- Must be willing to step into any role when necessary.
