Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Sterilizes and disinfects instruments not sent to Central Sterilization and Processing cleans dental carts and sets up instrument trays daily according to guidelines established by Hospital.
- Prepares materials and assists orthodontist during orthodontic procedures on children (and adults) as necessary on a daily basis.
- Participates in Hospital quality improvement activities (committees teams task forces) offers written or verbal recommendations and participates in the development of team goals yearly.
- Makes follow-up appointments for children (and adults) as needed.
- Reviews charts and schedules for next days clinics to ensure necessary information is available for the orthodontist
- Lab duties
- Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a knowledge of orthodontist procedures.
- Should have computer skills.
- Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is the ability to use dental equipment including chairs carts amalgamating curing lights and OTC sterilizer
- The ability to work with patients with special needs e.g. cleft lip and palate
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Skills & Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Registered Dental Assistant from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
- 6 months required experience as an orthodontic assistant - 1 year preferred
- Cranial Facial experience preferred
- Willing to support both dental and orthodontics
