The Role
The Social Services Coordinator is a skilled social services navigator group facilitator volunteer manager and community liaison who thriveswhile workingin dynamic community-centered environments. This role ensures that LGBTQIA2S elders in Seattle/King County are aware of and can access resources that support their wellbeing stability and sense of belonging.
The Social Services Coordinator provides direct 1:1 information andassistance coordinates support groups collaborates with community partners and supports volunteers delivering theGenPrideCenter and throughout King schedule may include early morning evening and weekend hours. This position reports to theProgram and Services Managerand collaborates closely withGenPridestaff partners volunteers and community members.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Support & Navigation (40%)
- Provide person-centeredstrengths-based and trauma-informed informationassistance and referrals to LGBTQIA2S older adults.
- Serve as a liaison and advocate alongside individuals working with landlords benefits programs healthcare providers and social service systems.
- Support short-term problem-solving and benefits enrollment in partnership with trained volunteers.
- Build trusting relationships with elders with diverse lived experiences including individuals experiencing housing instability substance use and/or significant mental or physical health challenges.
- Assess caregiver needs within the community and help design responsive supports aligned with program goals and grant requirements.
Group & Community-Based Support (40%)
- Coordinate andfacilitatesupport groups and community-based services for LGBTQIA2S elders and caregivers.
- Partner with LGBTQIA2S and senior-serving organizations to assess community needs and co-create responsive programs and services.
- Collaborate with the Programand Services Managerto offer classes workshops and group activities that foster connection resilience and wellbeing.
- Support outreach efforts that connect elders to services at theGenPrideCenter and throughout King County.
Program Administration & Evaluation (10%)
- Maintainaccuratetimelydocumentation of services referrals partnerships and outcomes usingGenPridesdata systems.
- Prepare narrative reports and support evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
- Engage participants in feedback and follow-up processes to inform program development and quality improvement.
- Ensure confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all aspects of service delivery.
Internal Leadership & Culture (10%)
- Serve as a member ofGenPridesCoordinating Team supporting alignment and integration across programs.
- Apply racial aging and LGBTQIA2S equity frameworks in daily work planning and decision-making.
- Participate meaningfully in caucus groups organizational learning and culture-building efforts.
- Contribute to an inclusive mission-focused and community-centered organizational culture.
Qualifications
- Deep commitment to racial aging and LGBTQIA2S equity and experience working across diverse lived experiences.
- 2 years of experience providing direct social service support to older adults including a robust understanding of elderandLGBTQIA2S systems and services.
- 2 years of experience coordinating programs and/or managing volunteers.
- Skilledunderstanding of older adult development and needs including caregiving grief joy and power.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to cultivate trust with elders coworkers volunteers and partners.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability toeffectivelymanageprogram documentationmultipleprioritiesand shifting needs.
- Strong clear communication skills both oral andwritten.Collaborative communicative and adaptable with comfort giving and receiving feedback.
- Demonstrated humility self-reflection curiosity and skill in repairing professional relationships.
- Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and ability to adapt tonew technologies; familiarity with client databases preferred.
- Ability to travel to community locations throughout King County.
- Bilingual in one or more King County threshold languages a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience using Motivational Interviewing or similar engagement approaches.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a community center environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to sit stand move throughout the center stoop bend andlift upto 25 pounds. Ability to work occasional early morning evening or weekend hours isrequired. COVID vaccinationrequired.
Ability to travel to community locations throughout King County.
