Your Opportunity
As Triton continues to grow we are seeking highly motivated and passionate Environmental Inspectors to join a well-established team of environmental professionals.
This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working in the field and who thrive in a construction environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world class projects that balance environmental protection with development.
Your Impact
- Environmental inspection of pipeline construction and integrity dig projects
- Monitoring compliance with applicable environmental requirements and commitments relevant to pipeline construction and operations
- Advising construction personnel on major decisions such as weather shutdowns or strategies to manage unexpected environmental conditions or concerns using industry best practices and mitigation measures
- Acting as a liaison with local provincial and federal regulatory agencies
- Monitoring the implementation of Environmental Protection Plans (EPP) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) during construction activities
- Monitoring topsoil stripping storage and replacement as well as seeding
- Recommending erosion and sediment control measures and monitoring installation and effectiveness
- Overseeing watercourse or waterbody crossings ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulatory conditions
- Conducting water quality sampling and turbidity monitoring during dewatering and waterbody crossing activities
- Monitoring water diversions and withdrawals
- Conducting wildlife sweeps migratory and breeding bird/nest sweeps and amphibian salvages
- Performing equipment inspections for fluid leaks and assist with spill prevention and response
- Monitoring environmental aspects of other pipeline activities such as hydrostatic test dewatering hydrovac operations and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) waste management ensuring adherence to various regulatory requirements
- Preparing daily inspection reports environmental summaries and environmental post-construction reports
- Attending project and safety meetings
Your Skills and Experience
- B.Sc. or technical diploma in biology forestry agriculture or environmental science is an asset
- Relevant professional designation (e.g. RPBio ) is an asset
- A minimum of two years of relevant environmental inspection and monitoring experience for development projects in western Canada
- Pipeline construction knowledge and experience
- Thorough understanding of applicable provincial and federal environmental legislation regulations and policies to ensure project-specific compliance
- Experience conducting fish salvages water quality monitoring pre-construction migratory and breeding bird nest sweeps and amphibian salvages
- Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment
- Ability to identify and mitigate issues rapidly to ensure compliance within an active construction work environment
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients contractors agencies and co-workers
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to do shift work on project sites
- Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
- Valid drivers license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.

Your Compensation
Wages are commensurate with experience and qualifications with the approximate wage range being $50 to $70 per hour.
Location Work Schedule & Flexibility
This position is primarily field based with shift rotations and camp/hotel stays. Schedules may vary and are determined by client project staffing requirements.
