Description
The Family Partner is a vital member of the In Home BaseTherapeutic Care (IHTBC) team offering peer-based support to caregivers raising youth with significant emotional behavioral or mental health challenges. This role is grounded in lived experiencethe Family Partner uses their own personal journey navigating child-serving systems to empower guide and advocate alongside families.
Family Partners work collaboratively with clinicians and young adult peer mentors to help families feel heard supported and confident in their ability to navigate services and support their childs success.
What You Will Be Doing to Support Families...
Assist parent/caregiver with meeting the needs of the youth
Educate the parent/caregiver how to navigate the child serving systems and processes
Develop community partnerships with formal and informal community resources thus enabling family access to expanded ongoing community based services for the children and families
Attend meetings with families (school clinical community) to help them prepare participate and advocate effectively.

Requirements
- No degree requirements
- Experience as a caregiver of a youth with special needs and preferably a youth with mental health needs
- Experience in navigating any of the child and family serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems preferably DMH
- Experience in working collaboratively with state agencies consumer advocacy groups and/or behavioral health outpatient facilities
- Good organizational and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate others
