GENERAL SUMMARY:

As the Structures Crew Chief you will guide and support a team in performing inspections maintenance troubleshooting repairs and installations of airframe structures composites and related components to ensure the safety reliability and peak performance of business aircraft. This lead role requires advanced technical expertise strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to regulatory compliance and quality standards. You will set the tone for precision workmanship mentor technicians and foster a culture rooted in safety teamwork and continuous improvement. Through your leadership you will help deliver exceptional results and an outstanding maintenance experience for aircraft owners operators and passengers.

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Lead and direct structural technicians in the inspection repair modification and installation of airframe structures and composite components.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and guide the team in diagnosing structural discrepancies efficiently and accurately.
  • Review work orders technical manuals engineering drawings and regulatory documentation to ensure proper execution of all structural tasks.
  • Verify completed work for compliance with FAA regulations OEM specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate daily workflow manage task assignments and monitor project progress to support on-time aircraft delivery.
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise during complex structural repairs or modifications.
  • Train mentor and coach technicians to enhance skills safety awareness and overall team performance.
  • Communicate effectively with Planning Engineering Quality and leadership teams to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols tool control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain an organized efficient work environment that reflects high standards of professionalism and craftsmanship.

Top candidates will possess:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 years of hands-on aircraft structural repair modification and composite experience
  • A&P certificate
  • Proven leadership experience as a senior technician lead or crew chief in a maintenance environment
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings SRMs AMMs and technical documentation
  • Advanced skill in metal fabrication sheet-metal repair riveting composite layup/repair and airframe structural troubleshooting
  • Thorough understanding of FAA regulations OEM standards and aircraft maintenance best practices
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to guide technicians and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing work that meets strict safety and quality requirements
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities meet project deadlines and support on-time aircraft delivery
  • Knowledge and understanding of FARs

Other requirements include:

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. work in confined spaces and in noisy environments
  • Ability to obtain and retain an airport AOA badge
  • Ability to work variable shifts and overtime as needed in a fast-paced MRO environment
  • Ability to occasionally travel for work assignments
  • Ability to maintain a tool inventory in alignment with shop requirements
