Position Summary / Career Interest:

Under the supervision of the Dir of Nursing - Ambulatory and Nurse Manager - Ambulatory the EP Nurse Supervisor--Cardiovascular Medicine assists/supports the clinic and inpatient operations administratively and clinically. He/she assists in supervisory planning organizing directing coordinating and controlling activities. He/she assumes responsibility for patient flow triage schedules and provides direct patient care. Is responsible for efficient day to day operations of the clinic and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues nurses and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care
  • Operational Performance Assists the Ambulatory Clinic Manager in daily clinical and operational aspects of the clinic including staff scheduling and monitoring of provider clinic schedules to ensure effective resource management and quality improvement through monitoring of clinic key performance indicators. Assists with urgent EP referrals and work in appointments.
  • Collaborates with the Ambulatory Clinic Manager Senior Administrator/Director and Physician leadership to establish patient care standards and evaluates staff compliance. Serves as a mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance meeting patient and family expectations for care while implementing mechanisms to ensure culturally specific care. Responds to patient and family concerns or complaints with sensitivity and compassion in a timely fashion.
  • Uses findings from patient and staff satisfaction surveys complaints and patient safety events/root cause analysis to plan and improve patient care using active mentoring and performance management strategies including MDI (monitoring daily improvement) boards.
  • Assists with hiring education and performance evaluation of the staff. Guide staff through prolonged orientation (6 months - 1 year) with frequent check-ins and knowledge assessments. Tailors orientation to indivdual learning styles and needs. Spends time training new device staff to assist them with learning in areas they are having difficulty. Works with the Clinic Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff.
  • Creates and maintains a supportive work environment for the entire team. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of respect and courtesy toward patients staff and colleagues.
  • Makes recommendations and provides opportunities for growth and development of personnel and arranges for appropriate education and training of staff.
  • Maintains clinical relevance demonstrating self-development by keeping current on a variety of clinical management and health care topics.
  • Promotes a level of professionalism in clinic both in culture and appearance. Motivates academic pursuit and continuing education on the part of the staff by establishing and meeting service based certification goals.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams providing care to cardiac device patients including but not limited to perioperative services proton therapy radiation oncology spine center MRI and enterprise imaging.
  • Maintain relationships with cardiac device vendors including but not limited to Medtronic Boston Scientific Abbott Biotronik Impulse Dynamics and Zoll to troubleshoot issues assist with outreach clinic facilitate staff training and competencies and stay up to date on new technology and device/ programmer features.
  • Manage database of clinical field advisories for cardiac devices and patient follow up. Assist with oversight of cardiac device product alerts.
  • Assist Nurse Manager and Medical Director of Cardiac Device when new advisories are issued by extracting patient lists and triaging recommendations for coordination of patient care.

  • Oversee interface error report vendor clinic sites and data aggregator software and appropriately delegate maintenance tasks to team members.
  • Maintains competency with new device software and device technologies across various vendors
  • Oversee inpatient cardiac device operations and on demand transmissions issued to inpatient units.
  • Collaborate with Device Practice Council and Leadership on quality and safety initiatives
  • Onboard new employees to cardiac device and TUKHS culture
  • Monitor remote monitoring program for cardiac implantable electronic devices and implanted loop recorders
  • Oversee specialty clinics within EP including but not limited to atrial fibrillation clinic ANS clinic advanced device clinic and lead extraction clinic.
  • Assist with operations for enterprise ECG and ambulatory cardiac monitoring.
  • Oversee HRM procedures and implement process improvement initiatives for tilt table testing autonomic nervous system testing and ILR implant including point of care competency.
  • Maintain relationships with sterile processing for proper instrument turnaround.
  • Must be able to perform the professional clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing
  • 2 or more years of RN experience
  • 1 or more years of Ambulatory experience
  • Demonstrated leadership communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master Degree Nursing
  • Successful completion of a cardiac device rhythm management course within 1 year of hire.
  • Previous RN experience in specialty and supervisory experience

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing Must have current active multistate state Register Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live OR active single state RN license in good standing in the state you will be working with proof of application of a multistate RN license in the state in which you hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 3/31/2026. upon Hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) upon Hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) upon Hire

Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist (CDRMS) - International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) OR
  • Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) - International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE)
