Job Description - Professional Practice CYC Educator - Full time Permanent Position

Position Summary

As an integral member of the team the Professional Practice CYC Educator has a dual responsibility:

  • Supports the Quality & Professional Practice department to ensure implementation of any initiatives/processes.
  • Fostering the development of clinical excellence and facilitating outstanding patient and family experiences in the various clinical programs.

The Professional Practice CYC Educator also ensures that professional practices are aligned with a trauma informed approach as well as the organizations strategic and operational goals including Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging. Utilizing a balanced strategic and tactical approach that will embrace trauma-informed care and supports this role will align all efforts with best practice quality improvement accreditation sectoral and professional standards and be responsible for advancing the implementation of the quality improvement agency-wide.

Location: Inpatient Units (227 Victoria St. Toronto ON)
Schedule: 5 days per week
Status: Full-Time Permanent (37.5 hours/week)
Union/Non: This is a non-unionized position.
Salary Range: $65000-$75000 per year

Accountability

The Professional Practice CYC Educator will report to the Manager Quality & Inter-professional practice.

Corporate Responsibilities

  • Fosters positive and constructive interpersonal relationships with the staff clients visitors outside agencies and related professional associations.
  • Maintains and adheres to all relevant legislation such as the Child Youth and Family Services Act and Mental Health Act.
  • Maintains and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations reporting hazards deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates practices which are consistent with the guiding principles and philosophy of Youthdale Treatment Centres.
  • Development implementation monitoring and evaluation of training and development programs aligned with the organizations strategic priorities and guiding principles.

Areas of Responsibilities

Quality & Professional Practice: Program Development and Implementation

  • Assume any quality improvement initiatives as directed by the quality department leadership.
  • In partnership with clinical leadership plan develop implement and evaluate programs to meet the educational needs of CYC staff and other members of the clinical team.
  • Develop conduct and evaluate innovative programs for specific patient populations.
  • Foster an environment that promotes patient/family-centered care and inter-professional collaboration.
  • Foster an environment that encourages and supports scholarship.

Training Competency and Evidence-Based Practice

  • In partnership with the clinical program leadership provide educational opportunities for staff to maintain competency and expand their knowledge base.
  • Design conduct and evaluate training and education programs to enhance staff competency and professional development.
  • Critically appraise the research literature and implement evidence-based practices.
  • Facilitate staff to continually monitor and define skill set requirements and interpret the scope of practice legislative and credentialing requirements.
  • Performs training and development needs assessments in alignment with professional practice and quality improvement standards for registered and non-registered professions.
  • Conduct regular audits and training sessions to reinforce compliance in key areas.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate on corrective actions related to incidents or deficiencies identified through training gaps.

Organizational Development and Staff Support

  • Works flexible hours including evenings to facilitate client meetings and debriefs where required.
  • Collaborates with teams clients caregivers and leadership to ensure that trauma informed practices are implemented consistently and integrated effectively.
  • Collaborates with programs to identify key issues impacting clinical staff at professional organizational and individual levels helping to develop action plans and strategies for best practice.
  • Coordinates and partners with Human Resources to enhance the employee experience and promote investment in staff across all levels of the organization.
  • Supports a high quality workplace that promotes staff well-being safety productivity and recognition.
  • Promotes and supports program-based organizational and other quality improvement and development initiatives to enhance client-centered care and profession specific and inter-professional practice.
  • Promotes a spirit of critical inquiry and analysis among staff in the provision of client-centered care and engagement.
  • Supports or participates in evidence-based research activities related to profession-specific or inter-professional practice to improve client care outcomes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the personal information of clients and staff.

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate records of all training sessions participant progress and completion rates.
  • Prepare and submit reports on training metrics and outcomes to leadership highlighting achievements and areas for development.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field.
  • Trained in Trauma Informed Care is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mental health setting.
  • Extensive experience in mental health addictions and community health serving complex vulnerable and marginalized populations including children youth and individuals from the BIPOC LGBTQ2 and other communities.
  • Experience in program development with an emphasis on the training and development of skills related to mental health and addictions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to train deliver and influence a wide range of audiences.
  • Highly effective training and development skills with experience in developing tools and systems for competency and capacity development.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
