Pay Range

$38.20 - $57.30

Join the Atrium Health Womens Care Maternal Fetal Medicine team in Charlotte NC. Provide preconception and prenatal Genetic Counseling services with support from a multidisciplinary team at up to 4 offices in the local area. Opportunities for professional growth and teaching various learners including Genetic Counseling students. Successful candidates should be eager to learn flexible able to work well independently and with a team and have excellent organization and communication skills. Option to work four 10-hour days with flexibility for team for full benefits including healthcare 401K with matching and paid time off. Yearly allowance for CEUs and related fees.

Essential Functions

  • Provide comprehensive genetic counseling and testing including interpreting clinical and laboratory findings and clearly conveying results to patients and providers.

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments; deliver counseling followup and referrals to community state and national resources when needed.

  • Research specific genetic disorders and translate complex clinical/genetic information into meaningful actionable guidance for patients and care teams.

  • Assess psychosocial factors and offer supportive counseling; educate patients on the risks and benefits of procedures to enable informed consent.

  • Maintain ongoing client contact for followup and continuity of care.

  • Prepare and provide written documentation of genetic consultations to patients and/or physicians in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Collaborate directly with laboratory providers to order necessary genetic or related tests and evaluate results upon receipt.

  • Coordinate with external reference laboratories (including nonACL labs) to arrange specialized testing and services not provided internally.

  • Ensure practice aligns with state licensure regulations and with applicable federal state and municipal laws regulations and standards impacting genetics services.

  • Partner effectively across multidisciplinary teams; communicate with diplomacy and tacteven in stressful situationsto support patient care and team alignment.

  • Organize caseloads manage documentation and presentation materials and contribute to education for patients families and clinical partners.

  • Apply strong problemsolving and analytical skills to guide test selection variant interpretation and care planning.

  • Utilize basic computer skills and clinical applications to document visits track tests and manage followup activities.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC)accredited program.

  • Active Candidate Status for ABGC board certification (required).

  • Experience: One or more years experience as a Genetic Counselor preferred; however upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.

Launch Timeline:This position is to help support the growth of our patient-centered services including the opening of a fourth office in the second half of 2026. Were recruiting now to allow time to hire and train prior to opening positioning you as a core contributor to the team.
