Job Description:

The primary responsibility as a lifeguard is to ensure the safety of patrons by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or need to be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision-making skills andpossess the ability to work with diverse must be able to enforceaquaticfacility policies and be able to communicate effectively why policies are in place.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Monitor all patrons in aquatic/pool areas and provide constant surveillance of pool areas to ensure patron safety

• Act as a first responder to emergency situations

• Perform life saving techniques CPR and first aid procedures in emergency situations

• Ability to stand forlong periodsof time(up to 5 hours a day)whilemonitoringthe pool deck

• Work in outdoor setting during various weather conditions

• Maintain the cleanliness of the pool deck by removing used towels lifejacketsand trash

• Communicate and report any facility issues or needs to the Certified Pool Operator

Qualifications:

• Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Required.

• Current CPR/ First Aid/AED Certifications Required.

• Knowledge of water rescue and resuscitation techniques;

• Ability to remain calm and alert in emergency situations and act accordingly;

• Ability to deal with public and other staff in a non-confrontational manner;

• Ability to communicate in a clear concise manner.

• Previouslifeguarding experience is preferred but notrequired

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this position the employeeis regularly required tosit stand walk talk and hear.
