Who Can Participate
The Innovation Exchange is open to:
Entrepreneurs and innovators who are part of our partner organisations in Africa:
iceaddis
Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC)
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)
Mount Kenya University (MKU)
TheNest Innovation Park
Individuals with a start-up idea tackling critical challenges in line with the SDGs
Participants who have actively engaged in the Africa Meets Bavaria masterclass and received the online certificate From Zero to Hero
Founders and aspiring entrepreneurs eager to expand their network and gain international experience
How to Participate
Step 1: Submit Your Application
To be considered for the exchange program submit the following documents with your application:
CV Highlighting your entrepreneurial experience and skills (1 page)
Start-Up Idea Business Model (PPT Slide) Covering the problem solution target market and SDG alignment. It can either connect to the idea developed during the masterclass or individual ideas
Cover Letter (1 page) Explaining why you want to participate and how this opportunity will benefit you
Valid passport - Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the EU and it must have been issued within the last 10 years.
Step 2: Selection & Exchange Program
A selection committee will evaluate applications based on:
Quality of application and start-up idea
Participation in the masterclass
Diversity considerations
The top 10 participants will be invited to Munich for the exchange program where they will collaborate with start-ups meet investors and gain valuable insights into the German innovation ecosystem!
Step 3: When in Munich
Participants receive a scholarship financed by the Bavarian State Chancellery. The scholarship includes the following benefits:
Covering flight costs to and from Munich (up to 1000)
Covering rent for accommodation at WERK 1 in Munich
Covering local transportation ticket (Deutschland Ticket)
Additional 350 Euros per month for food and other expenses
You will be matched with a start-up from our ecosystem and get the opportunity to become part of their team for a period of 8 weeks.
