Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Charge RN you will provide oversight of the activities on a nursing unit during a specific shift including serving as a resource to staff directing patient flow assuring appropriate utilization of resources and providing oversight for the provisions of quality care in a manner satisfying to patients.
- Mentors others in areas such as competency documentation equipment use plan of care National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) and participation in inservice education.
- Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.
- Coaches staff to improve care.
- Ensures standard of care is maintained.
- Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.
- Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.
- Utilizes the Clinical Response Team (CRT) appropriately for the area.
- Demonstrates appropriate prioritization and critical thinking skills in critical situations.
- Utilizes the nursing process including accurately assessing the patients physical emotional spiritual and learning needs.
- Documents accurately in the medical record.

Job Requirements
Required:
- Associate Of Nursing ADN Diploma or foreign equivalent upon hire
- Two years ED RN experience upon hire
- Registered Nurse: AZ upon hire
- American Heart Association BLS upon hire
- American Heart Association ACLS upon hire
- American Heart Association PALS upon hire
Preferred:
- BSN
- Charge Nurse experience
