Civils Operations Supervisor
We are delighted to announce a major new contract win with Welsh Water supporting them over the next four years and beyond delivering proactive and reactive maintenance of their Wastewater Network.
We are now seeking an experienced CivilsOperationsSupervisor to oversee daytoday site activities ensuring all works are delivered safely efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This role involves supervising operatives and subcontractors coordinating resources andmaintainingstrong complianceworkmanshipand operational performance on site.
Operational Delivery & Resource Management
- Lead and coordinate daily site operations to meet scope productivitytargetsand SLAs including subcontractor activities.
- Ensure teams have the required plant fleet equipment and materials maximisingutilisationand minimising waste.
- Monitor progress and performance addressing deviations tomaintainprogrammequalityand cost.
- Work with planning and scheduling teams toallocateresources prioritise workloads andmaintainoperational readiness.
- Maintain a strong onsite and yard presence to uphold safety disciplineefficiencyandhigh standardsof workmanship.
Health Safety Quality & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Business Management Systems HSEQ procedures clientrequirementsand all relevant legislation.
- Maintainhigh standardsof health safety environmentalperformanceand quality across all works.
- Conduct site inspections to confirm compliance with safe systems of work drawingsspecificationsand method statements.
- Support incident investigations implement corrective actions and share lessons learned.
- Maintainaccurateoperational administrative and Quality Assurancerecords updating internal and client systems in real time.
People Management & Leadership
- Lead civils operatives and gangers with clear instruction effective performancemanagementand consistent discipline.
- Provide coaching feedback and development support to individuals and teams.
- Identifystrengths skillgapsand succession opportunities to support longterm team growth.
Technical & Documentation Requirements
- Produce method statements technicalproceduresandaccuratework records.
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings including excavation shoring pipeworkrebarand concrete requirements.
- Prepare task feedback asbuilt information H&S Filecontentand other QA documentation.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with Senior Managementclientsand Local Authorities to agree scopes andmaintainstrong working relationships.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client concerns.
- Minimise customer disruption through effective planningcommunicationand access coordination.
- Liaise confidently with internal teamssubcontractorsand external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Certifications
- CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
Desirable
- CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
- NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management
- CSCS Black Managers Card or Gold Supervisors Card
- Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS)
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Civils OperationsSupervisor or in a similar supervisory role with strong knowledge of health safety environmental and qualityrequirementsand sound practical and technical understanding of civil engineering works. They will be confident communicators capable of leading site teams effectively and will be organised proactive and able to work productively under pressure.
