Job Summary

POSITION:

Registered Clinical Counselor


STATUS:

Part Time Temporary (April 24 2026 to June 8 2026 with possibility of extension)


LOCATIONS:

Richmond (1 day a week)

Coquitlam (1 day a week)


Compensation:

As Contractor: Up to $70/hour or a percentage fee

As Employee: Within the range of $45/hour (Rate will be dependent on education experience skills and internal equity.)


The Clinical Counsellor is responsible for the facilitation of education classes relaxation training groups and individual psychological treatment/counselling sessions within the context of the PTSD and Customized Recovery and Return to Work Programs as well as other services.


PTSD Program:

The RCC will provide treatment to adults who have been previously diagnosed withPosttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other conditions. The RCC will have 2 or more years of clinical experience and must be well versed with evidence based treatment for PTSD such as prolonged exposure eye movement desensitization and reprocessing and/ or cognitive processing therapy. The RCC will develop and implement individual treatment plans write reports and liaise with stakeholders. The RCC works closely with our interdisciplinary team that includes Psychologists Occupational Therapists Clinical Counsellors and Kinesiologists.


CRR Program:

The RCC Role is to offer short-term one-on-one psychological support and empirically validated treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) toclients. Experience with pain management and working with individuals with physical injuries is necessary. Psychological treatment is given within a rehabilitation context focusing on a successful and durable return to work. Treatment goals are realistic within the programs scope and duration. Intake progress and discharge reports are completed in a timely manner. Accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and other records are maintained. ePsycho-educational classes on various relevant subjects are also provided in a group format. Effective communication and consultation skills are essential; both within a multidisciplinary team environment and also in communications with referral sources and customers. This role requires solidclinical judgment capacity for crisis intervention when necessary and adherence to Back In Motions policies procedures practices and service standards.


Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of the practice of counselling in a rehabilitation environment.
  • M.A. in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors
  • Excellent skills in providing short-term psychological treatment/counselling and skills training.
  • Knowledge of effective pain management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience treating clients who have experienced trauma would be an asset
