Job Summary

The Office of the Registrar an academic service center for the University of Denver community takes an active role in assisting students staff and faculty with registration and advising by providing the tools needed to review academic progress create class schedules and successfully register for classes. Specialized services include but are not limited to registering for classes prompt transcript distribution degree evaluation and certification enrollment and degree verification classroom scheduling and withdrawal processing. We provide pertinent information regarding academic policy federal regulations and procedures as related to the procurement maintenance and release of educational records of our current and former students.

Position Summary

The Senior Associate Registrar for Student Information Systems oversees the technology system support area within the Office of the Registrar and designs and implements a collaborative infrastructure and culture to support stakeholders across campus. The position is functional lead and manages administration and configuration of the institutional student information system (Ellucian Banner) and all software applications administered by the Office of the Registrar. Responsible for maintaining academic and data integrity of student systems. Consults on use and integration of student information and student data to users across campus. Oversees effective communication and change management processes to drive improvements in functions provided by the Registrar. Launches and leads advisory and working groups that provide guidance on priorities strategy and facilitate the implementation of change. Assists the Registrar and university officials in designing and implementing practices that continue to improve the offices ability to meet the needs of students faculty staff in a timely and efficient manner. Works closely with Registrar management team to formulate strategy that leverages new technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the offices services. Assures adherence to state federal and University regulations and guidelines. Position directly manages several critical institutional functions such as SIS security and access student data reporting systems support for faculty and students degree audit software and student CRM. The Associate Registrar supervises six full-time positions and reports to the Registrar.

Essential Functions

In addition to following the University of Denvers policies and procedures principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as primary functional product owner for Student modules and functionality in the institutions ERP Ellucian Banner. Manages student information systems and technology services for the Office of the Registrar personally and through subordinate employees. Functions include Registrar web services for students faculty and other constituents; technology support for Office of the Registrar; information reporting; and Banner Student system administration. Performs various administrative duties for the Office of the Registrar and provides leadership and structure for the on-going successful management implementation and upgrades of student-related administrative systems. Participates in or leads work teams strategy policy and procedural meetings. Serves as a student information resource and provides customer support to academic and administrative units on campus. Explores new functions to be implemented in the Student Information System as requested by academic community and other constituents. Develops documentation procedures and trains users. Serves as functional lead for all IT projects associated with the Registrars office.
  • Coordinates use of common elements of student-related modules of student information system including Registrar Admission Student Financial Services Financial Aid and Advancement. Ensures consistent practices data standards and optimum usage. Develops consistent standards and practices. Produces appropriate documentation trains and educates users. Oversees data/academic integrity in student information systems. Reviews information from a variety of sources and updates student records as necessary. Personally and through supervisees provides accurate institutional data and reporting in partnership with Institutional Research IT and other units. Provides leadership in optimizing institutional reporting tools.
  • Serve as a project manager or systems integrator for complex University technical initiatives related to or using student information or concepts. Provides input on the scope deliverables and final assessment for RFPs. Assist in the design development deployment and support of integrated solutions used by the University. Provides short and long-term analysis of proposed or implemented solutions for University leadership. Provides ongoing functional support for deployed solutions.
  • Oversees the administration of specialized systems including the institutional degree audit system continuing education and student CRM through the supervision of a full-time Degree Audit Analyst Continuing Education Analyst and CRM Business Analyst. Serves as an information resource on the degree audit system to University community. Ensures the tools maximize advising support to students faculty and campus advisers.
  • Directly supervises six full-time employees. Assists employees in terms of responsibilities direction timeframes etc. Meets with individuals consistently to address any concerns or needs. Remains aware of activities and the timing of events to contribute to the success of the employee and the office. Acts in the Registrars stead in their absence. Serves on various institutional committees and task forces. Performs other duties as assigned. The position requires some travel and frequently requires work beyond standard office hours.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts and analyze relevant data such as fractions percentage ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
  • Competent in multiple computer applications including MS Word PowerPoint Excel Access other reporting tools email.
  • Outstanding interpersonal written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with University regulations operating procedures and organizational structure; applicable state and federal laws; computerized student info systems (Banner); student academic registration and residency requirements; planning and scheduling techniques; customer service standards and procedures; business analysis techniques; staff hiring procedures. Knowledge of working with large data sets with tools such as Microsoft Access Cognos or Tableau.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues and business implications to technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to implement learn and serve as the subject matter expert on any new technology

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in Higher Education.
  • 2 years experience in a registrars office.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a registrars office.
  • Masters degree.
  • Experience with Banner and Cognos

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 14.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $95000-$107835.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
