This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn a single-configuration heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit geostationary transfer orbit cislunar and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As Deputy Director for the New Glenn first-generation second stage GS2 you will help lead a team of 50 engineers spanning system design development testing production and recurring flight operations. Reporting to the Sr. Director of GS2 you will shape technical and programmatic strategy drive cross-functional execution and build the team culture needed to support both rapid development and long-term operational excellence.

You will actively collaborate with systems engineering manufacturing test launch operations and other partner teams to achieve program goals. Youll provide guidance and mentorship to our team enabling them to make sound technical decisions in a dynamic environment while supporting their growth through constructive feedback and clear developmental opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present program metrics to executive leadership
  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership for GS2 engineering activities
  • Set clear measurable and strategic goals for the team and track progress toward achieving them
  • Drive production ramp execution to meet increasing launch cadence demands
  • Lead stage upgrade initiatives to improve performance reliability and manufacturability
  • Identify communicate and mitigate programmatic risks and opportunities
  • Communicate status critical paths and recommended solutions to director-level and executive leadership
  • Drive process improvements for technical program management scheduling budget and cross-functional execution
  • Collaborate with production systems engineering design manufacturing and test organizations to ensure successful system design validation and verification
  • Manage mentor and develop the team
  • Promote a safe ethical and transparent working environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Engineering or relevant technical field
  • 15 years of engineering or technical project leadership experience with 10 years in project program or team leadership roles
  • Proven experience leading teams and processes in a fast-paced high-stakes environment
  • Strong strategic mentality with the ability to plan prioritize and align team activities with organizational goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Consistent track record of achieving results in manufacturing production or test settings (preferably in aerospace)
  • Ability to operate make decisions lead and make forward progress in complex and ambiguous environments
  • Experience with systems engineering principles requirements management and validation/verification processes
  • Excellent written verbal and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Engineering Aerospace
  • Master of Business Administration or MS in Engineering Management
  • Direct experience with launch vehicle or space system integration and testing
  • Progressively responsible experience in technical or project management roles in aerospace or related high-reliability industries
  • Experience across multiple portions of the product lifecycle (design analysis manufacturing integration and test)
  • Experience with scheduling and project management tools (such as Primavera P6 MS Project) and data management software (Confluence Jira Tableau SQL)
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing certifications
  • Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and strengthen our culture of inclusion

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $160618.00 - $224864.85 WA applicants is $169624.00 - $237473.25
