Position Summary
A Mathematics Instructor is primarily responsible to teach and develop curricula in college level mathematics courses such as developmental math quantitative literacy algebra through calculus math for elementary school teachers and statistics among other ability to teach courses in another discipline is desirable.

Essential Functions
Design format and deliver curriculum for assigned courses that meet the stated course outcomes.
Deliver instruction in different modalities such as face to face hybrid and distance delivery in both synchronous and asynchronous distance formats.
Provide regular and substantive feedback to all students especially in distance education courses.
Continually work to improve curriculum and teaching by staying current in trends in best practices in Community College education the use of technology in the classroom.
Adopt teaching practices that foster learning in and out of the classroom.
Distribute a course syllabus by the first class period of each term clearly stating all required elements including but not limited to learning outcomes grading processes attendance requirements nature of assignments or requirements communication policy and required texts.
Use the adopted learning management systems in teaching and course management including records of attendance and final grades.
Collect data to assess learning based on course outcomes; use assessment data to make improvements in course curriculum and adopt teaching practices that foster learning for students.
Formally advise students to ensure satisfactory academic progress and informally mentor students to promote student success.
Provide regularly scheduled and posted office hours for student advisement and course related consultation. Maintain hours of work on campus.
Observe all policies of the Board of Education and/or administration regulations and procedures as they apply to the instructor as a member of the college faculty and as a BMCC employee.
Follow the highest ethical standards of the teaching profession and promote the best interests of the College.
Participate in departmental meetings faculty meetings and other workgroups to promote the educational goals of the college and its students.
Prepare and present records and reports necessary for proper institutional management.
Represent the College in the community and provide community service to benefit the program/discipline and the college.
Participate in college-wide plans and activities to recruit students improve student retention and completion.
Ability to facilitate the success of individuals representing a broad range of academic socioeconomic cultural ability and ethnic backgrounds.
Strengthen relations and collaborative activities with K-12 (Early College Credit) and baccalaureate-granting colleges including participation in the colleges dual and early credit programs.
Maintain an annual professional development plan with the Office Instruction.
When required mentor new full-time and part time faculty.
Stay current in emerging technologies and best practices to pursue excellence in teaching.
Other Aspects of this Position
Ability to perform job functions independently and with limited logistical support.
Ability to travel to other locations to instruct as needed or to attend meetings/conferences valid drivers license required.
This position will be assigned to the Eastern Oregon Higher Education Center in Hermiston OR.
This role does not provide immigration sponsorship. Only individuals with existing U.S. work authorization will be considered
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to teach revise and create Mathematics curriculum.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
Evidence of successful teaching experience in related areas.
Required Education and Experience
Masters Degree in Mathematics or Masters Degree in a closely related field.
Desired Additional Qualifications
Two (2) years of undergraduate instruction preferably at a Community College.
Qualifications to teach classes in another subject such as computer science business accounting or statistics.
Experience teaching in a variety of modalities including online.
Experience with curriculum development in current instructional technologies including online instruction.
Bilingual (English and Spanish).
