Job Summary

Primary Purpose:

Provide students withappropriate learningactivities and experiences intheAir ForceJROTC programto help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel inAir ForceJROTC. Contribute to educationprogramas a whole and togrowthof students involved inAir ForceJROTC.

Education/Certification:

  1. Bachelorsdegreerequired.
  2. Must hold or obtain theappropriateAirForcecertificationrequiredto serve in theAir ForceJROTC program.
  3. Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Knowledge of core academicsubjectassigned.
  2. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  3. Ability to instruct and supervisestudents.
  4. Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience/ Other Requirements:

  1. Asdeterminedby theAir ForceJunior ROTC Program.
  2. Personal cellphone isto handle district related business including after hours or when away from the office on district business.
  3. Class B CDL with P and S endorsement (or ability to obtain within30 daysof hire).

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements oftheAir ForceJROTCcurriculum program and show written evidence of preparation asrequired.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelinesestablishedbytheAir ForceJROTC ProgramTexasEducation Agency board policies and administrative regulations.
  4. Plan and useappropriate instructionaland learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  5. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  6. Work with other members of staff todetermineinstructional goalsobjectives and methods according to district requirements.
  7. Manage and superviseAir ForceJROTCactivities contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth inAir ForceJROTCskills teamwork and good sportsmanship.
  8. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

  1. Help students analyze and improve study methods and students in theAir ForceJROTC program as needed.
  2. Conduct ongoing assessment ofunit toassureAir ForceJROTC programobjectivesare met.
  3. Instruct and advise students onAir ForceJROTCregulationswith regard toacademic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  4. Plan extracurricular activities for theAir ForceJROTC unit including color / honor guard ceremonies drill team and rifle team competitive meets field trips basic leadership trainingetc.)
  5. Accompany and superviseAir ForceJROTC unitduringextracurricularactivities and competitions.
  6. Apply and enforce student discipline duringAir ForceJROTC events practice sessions and while on trips off school propertyin accordance withStudent Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  7. Encourage by example and through instruction sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Create classroomenvironmentconducive to learning andappropriate forthe physical social and emotional development of students.
  2. Manage student behaviorin accordance withStudent Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and simple preventative maintenance of training aides and devices.

Communication

  1. Establish andmaintainopen communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.
  2. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
  3. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  4. Prepare periodic reports on program administration andlogistics.
  5. Make annual presentations of theAir ForceJROTC program to students at feeder schools for the purpose of recruiting new cadets into the program.
  6. Establish contact with civic groups to obtaintheir recognitionand support oftheAir ForceJROTCprogram.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  2. Keep informed of andcomply withstate districtAir ForceJROTCand school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Keep current with new developments and organizations within theAir Force.
  4. Attend Navy-sponsored training to keepcurrent onrequirements of the program.
  5. Compilemaintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documentsrequired.
  6. Requisitionall governmentfurnishedequipment (uniforms training aids books drill rifles air rifles and organizational equipment). Ensure proper physical security of all governmentfurnishedequipment / materials. Inventory control of all governmentfurnishedequipment / materials.
  7. Maintain financial accounts ofAirForceJROTC operating budget.
  8. Prepare financial vouchers to the Navy for reimbursement of expenditures to the school made in support of theAir ForceJRTOC program.
  9. Arrange for cleaning and tailoring of uniforms.
  10. Surveying old and word uniforms and other government property.
  11. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  12. Responsible for properlymaintainingdistrict records adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenanceadlearning the records retention schedule for department records.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned teacheraide (s).
