Job Summary

Description:

Maintain assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy Manufacturer and Company Instructions.

Provide guidance to Mechanic I within the work center or special work group by sharing technical knowledge to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.

Monitor progress of work being performed on assigned aircraft.

Evaluate condition of engine and dynamic components requiring inspections as a result of operation outside of established parameters.

Coordinate with supervision and Quality Assurance to resolve questions concerning serviceability and/or repair procedures.

Use provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment to perform assigned tasks.

Read interpret and apply instructions from blueprints schematics and other approved data.

Assist with ordering parts tools materials and equipment as required.

Document work accomplished on Maintenance Action Forms (MAF).

Perform aircraft maintenance and recoveries away from home field when authorized.

Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.

Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.

Responsible for adhering to Company Tool Control Program.

Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract facilities and job assignment.

Ensure Quality Assurance inspections are complied with.

Required to perform Collateral Duty Inspection functions.

Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.

May be required to perform simple computer input functions.

Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing appropriate safety precautions.

Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in the Airframes/Powerplants Mechanic II classification.

May be required to remove and/or install cowling to perform the duties of the job classification.

Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA at the discretion of management may be requested to perform the duties of Leadman.

Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.

Assist when directed to ensure safety security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.

Performs ground turns in accordance with the Engine Rinse Program. Performs of out of Phase operational checks in accordance with applicable maintenance instructions. (High power ground turns.)

Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification

Must have experience in corrosion detection treatment and prevention.

A good working knowledge of assigned aircraft maintenance and parts manual.

Familiarization with OPNAV 4790.2 Series where applicable and other applicable Navy Instructions Manufacturer Manuals and Company Instructions.

Knowledge of materials used and safety precautions as applicable to usage.

Must have a valid state operators license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements.

Must be able to read speak write legibly and understand the English language.

Working Environment

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature wind rain etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.

Physical Activities

Physical Effort: Climbing standing stooping bending pushing kneeling stretching extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds

Qualifications

Education / Certifications: Must meet minimum helicopter experience requirements of the government contract which currently is:

Experience: Must also meet minimum aircraft maintenance experience requirements for this job which is:

FAA Airframes or Power Plants License (A or P) preferred or ability to obtain license within 2 yrs of employment in this position.

Must have a minimum of seven (7) years documented experience as a practicing aircraft mechanic (either fixed wing or helicopter) two (2) years of which must have been on TH-57 or Bell 206 aircraft.

Must meet any other qualification standard imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
