Summary of Job Duties:

The Graduate Assistant for Wellness will assist the Wellness Coordinator with the day-to-day responsibilities of the UARK Wellness program including wellness and health education programming and administrative tasks. The responsibilities include; developing and leading workshops assisting with the execution of events and presentations in conjunction with the Wellness Peer Educators assisting with training of the Wellness Peer Educator staff and data collection by tracking and compiling attendance tracking and learning objectives.

This position will develop UA Career-Ready skills such as Communication Professionalism and Critical Thinking.

Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average

  • Admission to a graduate degree programatthe University of Arkansas Fayetteville

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degreefrom an accredited institution of higher education preferably in Public Health Health Promotion Psychology Social Work Education Communications or a related field of study

  • Experience planning or executing health education events and/or programs

  • Certified Health and Wellness Coach

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health promotion and behavior change theories

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Computer literacy and technology skills preferably with Microsoft Suite

  • Excellent group facilitation and public speaking skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skill

  • Ability to create environments that foster participation of all groups

  • Ability to understand their own agency and social responsibility

  • Ability to identify and make referrals to network of campus services

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Wage Rate: $19280 (annual stipend)

Hours and Schedule:

  • The position is designed to be a 20 hours per week in person commitment

  • Weekly work hours vary and may include morning evening and weekend

Employment Timeline:

  • This position hires on an as needed basis

  • This position is eligible for up to 2 years of continuous employment upon satisfactory performance and continued academic enrollment
