The Faculty of Business Communications Studies and Aviation has a student body of approximately 4000 students and is composed of the Bissett School of Business the School of Communication Studies and an Aviation program. The Bissett School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human Resources Accounting & Finance International Business & Supply Chain Management and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
The Bissett School of Business is an accredited member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) a global non-profit membership-driven organization dedicated to management development.
The Department of General Management & Human Resources offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in both General Management and Human Resources. The BBA in General Management helps students understand the big picture in a variety of business sectors. The BBA in General Management helps students build a solid academic foundation to pursue career possibilities in human resources. Core Courses include Human Resources Marketing Global Business Environment and Business Communication Operations Management Business Law Organizational Behaviour and Strategic Management.
We invite applications for a senior lecturer beginning July 1 outlined in Article 6 of the Collective Agreement (pg. 48) the senior lecturer teaches 9 courses per academic year with focused service contributions and no scholarship requirements. This position is for a permanent appointment with an initial probationary period of two years.
Class sizes typically average between 35-40 successful candidate will primarily teach MGMT3210: Business Communication Theory and Practice courses; however they may also teach another general management course or have the option of developing and delivering a special topics course in General Management in the future.
The senior lecturer will also support ongoing curriculum renewal and support coordination of MGMT3210. The role will require a commitment to active engagement with full-time colleagues and a large contract faculty group contributing to the design and sharing of common teaching resources across sections in MGMT3210.
Applicants are encouraged to highlight their qualifications and interest in Business Communication and other General Management topics (if applicable) along with any relevant experience in industry and with active learning and curriculum renewal.
