Position Summary
The School District of Clayton is seeking a qualified and experienced nurse to support the 2026 K-12 Summer Academy Program. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students and staff during the summer session. The Summer Academy Nurse must be able to function as an independent practitioner in an educational setting ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment for all participants.
Reports To: Director of Summer Academy
The successful candidate will:
- Address the immediate and ongoing health needs of students and staff throughout Summer Academy.
- Possess the skills necessary to care for children with both chronic and episodic health conditions.
- Respond to student illness injury and medical emergencies in accordance with district policies and best nursing practices.
- Be familiar with managing diabetes asthma allergies communicable diseases anaphylaxis and seizure disorders
- Administer prescribed and over-the-counter medications as required following physician orders district procedures and state regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to medication administration and health history
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all applicable health and privacy regulations. - Ensure the implementation of individualized health plans emergency action plans and student safety protocols.
- Support students with special health needs to ensure equitable access to Summer Academy programming.
- Communicate relevant student medical needs and accommodations to Summer Academy staff while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Collaborate with administrators teachers and support staff to promote student well-being and safety.
Certification: A Bachelors Degree in Nursing is required.
Experience: The position is open to internal candidates only. If a suitable internal candidate is not found the position may be posted externally.
- At least 3 years of experience is required
- Nursing license from the State of Missouri is required
- CPR Certification is required.
