About the Role

Following continued growth in our Early Learning Services Sheldon College is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Early Learning to support the leadership and day-to-day operations of our Early Learning Centre.

Working closely with the Director of Early Learning and Educational Leader this role provides operational administrative and people leadership support across our Long Day Care Kindergarten and Outside School Hours Care programs. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality practice strong team culture effective family communication and ongoing compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.

As a key member of the Early Learning Centre Leadership Team you will act as a Responsible Person support nominated supervisor functions as delegated and assume leadership responsibility in the absence of the Director of Early Learning.

This role is ideal for an experienced early childhood leader who enjoys being hands-on values operational excellence.

About You

You are an experienced early childhood professional who combines strong operational capability with a calm confident leadership style.

You will bring:

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or ACECQA-recognised qualification (minimum Diploma)
  • Demonstrated experience in early childhood education and care with exposure to operational leadership
  • Strong working knowledge of the EYLF NQS National Regulations and compliance requirements
  • Confidence in supporting rostering staffing ratios workforce planning and daily operations
  • Experience supporting quality assurance QIP implementation and Assessment & Rating preparation
  • The ability to lead support and develop educators while maintaining positive workplace culture
  • Clear professional communication skills and the ability to build trust with families
  • A commitment to reflective practice continuous improvement and child-centred education
  • Current Blue Card or QCT Registration First Aid CPR Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications and Child Protection training (CHCPRT units)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Early Learning in the day-to-day management of the Early Learning Centre
  • Coordinate daily operations including staffing rosters ratios leave management and room organisation
  • Act as a Responsible Person and assume leadership responsibility in the Directors absence
  • Support compliance with National Law Regulations and the National Quality Standard
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the Quality Improvement Plan
  • Ensure safe inclusive and high-quality learning environments across all programs
  • Support recruitment onboarding induction performance development and staff wellbeing
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to educators and operational staff
  • Build strong relationships with families and support enrolment orientation and transition processes
  • Support communication engagement activities and centre events

The Assistant Director of Early Learning works closely with the Director of Early Learning Educational Leader and College operational teams to support high-quality service delivery across the Early Learning Centre.
