MoranAssistant Superintendent for Human ResourcesSUBJECT: Job Title: Science Fair Faculty Advisors / Mentors (CTE & STEM)Location: Brockton High SchoolReports To: District Science Coordinator (9-12) / CTE DirectorStipend/Compensation: Contractual Hourly RatePosition OverviewBrockton High School is seeking passionate STEM and CTE teachers to lead and mentor students for the upcoming school-wide Science & Engineering Fair. This year the fair is proudly hosted by the Career & Technical Education (CTE) department highlighting the intersection of applied technical skills and scientific inquiry.A primary goal of this position is to increase equity in STEM. We are specifically focused on recruiting mentoring and retaining Multilingual Learners (ML) and global-majority students interest in STEM and STEM CTE. Successful candidates will serve not just as fair organizers but as active mentors who can bridge the gap between classroom theory technical application and student lived experiencesCommitment & Logistics Program Duration: Start Date: mid-February through mid-May. Weekly Schedule: Twice weekly 2:30 PM 4:00 PM (Days to be determined e.g. Tuesdays & Thursdays). Three hours per week student facing time plus one hour per week for prep record keeping outreach for a total 4 hours per teacher plus 8 hours for day of event 64 hours per teacher at contracted rate. Event Date: The Science Fair will be hosted in the middle of Responsibilities1. Student Recruitment & Outreach Actively recruit students from diverse backgrounds with a specific strategic focus on minority students and Multilingual Learners. Collaborate with guidance counselors and EL/Bilingual department staff to identify students who show potential or interest in STEM/CTE but may not traditionally participate.2. Project Mentorship & Support Guide students through the scientific method or engineering design process helping them select feasible culturally relevant projects Scaffold instruction for Multilingual Learners (e.g. breaking down complex scientific vocabulary using visual aids for poster presentations).3. Fair Coordination & Logistics Supervise the after-school sessions (2:30 4:00 PM) ensuring a safe and productive workspace. Assist students with the registration process for the school fair (and regional fairs if applicable). Coordinate with the Science/CTE Coordinators to arrange materials safety checks and event setup for the mid-May Current Teacher at Brockton Public Schools (STEM or CTE certification preferred). Experience or strong interest in project-based learning. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in education.
