Job Summary

Role: Welfare Assistant

Salary: Grade 3 SCP 2

FTE: 24412 Actual Salary Pro-Rata: 18525

Contract: Fixed-term basis contingent on the 1:1 child remaining within the trust potential to become permanent within the trust in the long term

Hours: 32.5 hours per week 39 weeks per year

Start Date: February 2026

The Governors and Headteacher at Halton Lodge Nursery and Primary School wish to appoint a Welfare Assistant to support our KS2 team providing both 1:1 and class support. This position will be temporary in the first instance and is for 32.5 hours a week (5 days).

The successful candidate will:

Have experience of working with children in KS2
Experience of KS2 SATS would be an advantage but not essential
Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare
Demonstrate high expectations of individual achievement and behaviour
Be creative calm caring and enthusiastic
Have good organisational and interpersonal skills
Have flair talent and initiative
Demonstrate a commitment to raising standards.
Be able to work in close partnership with the whole school community.
