Job Summary

Position Purpose:

Drives sales growth and strengthens customer relationships within an assigned market. This role maximizes revenue from existing accounts while generating new business leveraging strong communication and organizational skills to engage customers vendors and branch operations. The Territory Manager partners with internal and external stakeholders to deliver excellent service achieve sales goals and enhance market presence and competitiveness. By collaborating across teams and acting as a trusted advisor this role ensures customer satisfaction and delivers measurable results across a multimilliondollar territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expand and retain the customer base by cultivating strong long-term relationships with new and existing clients.

  • Maintain exceptional client service and satisfaction through consistent proactive engagement.

  • Lead territory sales strategies to exceed revenue targets and drive business growth.

  • Stay current on product innovations and promote new offerings to meet evolving customer needs.

  • Plan and execute strategic promotions and vendor programs to increase product visibility and sales.

  • Support branch operations to streamline processes and ensure outstanding customer service.

  • Provide regular performance and sales reports to the Area Sales Manager with insights for improvement.

  • Develop and execute a targeted annual sales plan to drive measurable revenue results.

  • Champion digital tools to enhance efficiency and sales effectiveness.

  • Conduct business reviews and leverage data to optimize sales performance.

  • Represent the brand and build networks at trade shows and industry events.


Direct Manager / Direct Reports:

  • Reports to the Areas Sales Manager District Manager or other Sales Leadership equivalent.

  • This role does not have any direct reports.

Travel Requirements:

Extensive travel within the assigned market to build and expand customer relationships while also working closely with vendors and the inside sales team to effectively promote the companys products and services.

Physical Requirements:

Includes both office work and field activity requiring the ability to perform the physical demands of each environment. The position involves extended periods of sitting occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and frequent movement including walking bending and stooping. Strong visual acuity is needed for computer use and reviewing documents and clear communication with clients and team membersboth in person and across multiple platformsis essential.

Working Conditions:

Works in a hybrid environment balancing inoffice and remote work to meet business needs. This fastpaced deadlinedriven role requires strong initiative and timemanagement skills. Regular engagement with customers vendors and team membersthrough inperson meetings phone calls and emailis essential to support relationship building and business growth. The dynamic nature of the position demands a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities while upholding high standards of customer service and operational excellence.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of customer service experience within the Landscape and Irrigation industry.

  • Proven success in B2B sales including managing and growing multimilliondollar territories.

  • Strong ability to build grow and maintain customer relationships across diverse markets.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on customer-facing interactions.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling effective engagement with employees customers vendors and contractors.

  • Strong organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Solid understanding of basic sales practices and strategies to effectively engage and nurture customer bases.

  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills.


Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent with the ability to communicate effectively in English. Bilingual capabilities (English and Spanish) are advantageous but not mandatory.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Adept at learning promoting and demonstrating new products within the landscape industry.

  • Capacity to collaborate with vendors on sales promotions and programs actively.


Additional Requirements:

Maintains a clean driving record.

  • Demonstrated expertise in modern pool and landscape products and cutting-edge technologies with an emphasis on sustainability practices and innovative solutions.

  • Proven experience in territory expansion and market penetration strategies enhancing market share and revenue generation through adept competitive analysis and positioning.

  • Ability to interpret market trends and customer data utilizing insights to drive strategic decisions and optimize sales performance.

  • Experience in coaching and mentoring sales teams to achieve and surpass sales objectives fostering a culture of high performance and continuous professional development.

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors and key stakeholders driving collaborative initiatives and partnerships that enhance service delivery and product offerings.

  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and data analysis tools facilitating enhanced customer engagement and sales tracking.

  • Proven track record in devising creative solutions to complex challenges with the ability to adapt strategies in dynamic and competitive environments.

  • Fluency in additional languages beyond English and Spanish enhancing communication and relationship-building capabilities in diverse market segments.

  • Possession of relevant certifications in sales business development or landscape management highlighting commitment to professional excellence and industry standards.


Minimum Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for the position of Territory Manager.


Preferred Education:

Bachelors degree in Business Horticulture Marketing or a related field.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in sales or sales management.

  • Must possess a proven track record of success in selling Landscape/Irrigation products within a B2B environment.

  • Relevant experience managing a multi-million-dollar territory while demonstrating the ability to achieve growth year-over-year is essential.


Certifications:

  • Irrigation Association Certification (e.g. Certified Irrigation Contractor or Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor) preferred

  • Landscape Industry Certified Technician designation preferred

  • State-specific licensing or certification in landscaping or irrigation if applicable is a plus


Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support customers and provide clear reporting to management.

  • Proven ability to build strengthen and maintain longterm customer relationships that drive loyalty and growth.

  • Effective at managing multiple priorities executing detailed sales plans and achieving operational goals.

  • Solid knowledge of sales strategies and territory management to consistently meet or exceed targets.

  • Working understanding of landscape and irrigation products with the capacity to quickly learn and promote new offerings.

  • Skilled in collaborating with vendors and internal teams to coordinate successful promotions and sales programs.

  • Proficient with general computer applications including Microsoft Office to support efficient communication and reporting.
