Role Overview
The Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients across the LDRP continuum including labor postpartum antepartum and nursery settings. The RN delivers patient-centered evidence-based care while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans
Perform ongoing patient assessments to identify needs and prioritize care
Provide therapeutic nursing interventions aligned with clinical best practices
Manage patient care throughout labor delivery postpartum and antepartum phases
Document nursing care in accordance with standards of practice and patient acuity
Advocate for evidence-based care standards and quality improvement initiatives
Support a patient-centered care model aligned with professional nursing practice
Collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
Perform additional duties as assigned based on unit needs
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery or related specialty
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
Ability to manage maternal and newborn patients in a dynamic clinical environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Education
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Certifications & Licensure (Required)
Active New Jersey RN License or Multi-State Compact License
BLS (AHA)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Preferred Certifications
ACLS
Advanced AWHONN or Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
