Job Summary

Peter Claver Community a program of Catholic Charities CYO is a licensed medical care residence
for thirty-two (32) chronically homeless individuals ages 18 and over living with disabling
HIV/AIDS. The Residential Assistant for Peter Claver Community monitors the comings and goings
of residents staff and visitors. Ensure the safety of residents by limiting access to the building and
enforcing house rules.

Salary: $25.00 per hour

Location: Onsite 5 days a week


Respond to and follow through on all requests by residents.
Monitor the comings and goings of residents staff and visitors.
Ensure the safety of residents by limiting access to the building and enforcing house rules.
Complete incident reports as needed.
Read Communication Log and check personal box daily.
Log significant events on each shift in the Communication Log.
Answer the phone and direct calls to the appropriate person.
Arrange shift coverage for sick calls as needed.
Perform clerical duties as assigned.
Respond to emergencies as outlined in Disaster Plan and Policy and Procedure Manual.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS.
Knowledge of issues concerning chemical dependency alcoholism mental illness and
homelessness.
Ability to work with staff and clients around behavioral and psychiatric issues. Client
behaviors may include shouting use of profanity inappropriate behavioral choices.
Ability to interact with residents listens actively resolve conflicts and make referrals to
appropriate professional staff.
Understanding and demonstration of professional telephone etiquette and receptionist skills.
Capacity to work under pressure.
Understanding and following written and oral communication.
Demonstrates the necessary attitudes knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services
and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.

Is responsible for accurate and timely data entry that aids Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI)
reporting and case record reviews.
Is responsible for accurate and timely submission of case records.
Serves on a quarterly case record review committee for Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI)
reporting.
Serves on department or program Performance and Quality Improvement PQI Committee responsible
for monitoring goals and reporting.

Noise level in work environment is usually moderate and consistent with a normal
office setting.
Work environment is in a building which is home to residents/clients. There may be
exposure to personal possessions/artwork which may be offensive when entering a
clients private space.
