The Latino Heritage Internship Program seeks to engage young professionals in natural resource careers. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Position Description:
The intern will work hands-on with museum collections related to Americas railroading history. The intern will assist the parks curatorial staff with routine housekeeping and environmental monitoring in exhibit spaces and collection storage areas to ensure the preservation and protection of museum collections and to enhance the visitor experience to the site. The intern will assist staff in conducting the Annual Inventory of Museum Property a requirement for all NPS units that manage museum addition the intern will learn to safely handle research and document museum objects while creating an inventory and proposal documents for found in collection items to present to the parks Collection Advisory Committee for possible inclusion in the museum collection. The intern will participate in researching and writing social media posts that feature museum collections and projects completed during the internship.

The Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority is a special hiring authority available to qualifying interns. The intern must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old inclusive or a veteran up to age 35 and complete 640 hours of work on an appropriate conservation project to be eligible for this hiring authority. Upon successful completion of the PLC project(s) the intern is eligible for two years to be hired non-competitively into a federal seasonal term or permanent position.
