The Occupational Therapist position is a districtwide position however this position will be assigned to the Cutler Elementary School Miles River Middle School and Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. As a collaborative member of the Special Education team in Hamilton-Wenham RSD and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the HWRSD the Occupational Therapist (OT) will provide direct service to students both in and out of the general education classroom and sub-separate settings. The OT will consult with special education and general education teachers. The OT will administer evaluations/assessments and help to develop IEPs by writing goals objectives and accommodations. This specialist will maintain required documentation for Medicaid reimbursement and legal compliance. The OT will provide consultation to parents teachers and related staff and will participate in staff development activities. The successful candidate will have the ability to understand and appropriately apply the latest research in neurophysiology relating to neurodevelopmental and sensorimotor dysfunction to school age :- Provide direct services using both push in and pull out models and consultation- Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and treatment plans that address fine and visual motor and sensory integration needs- Experience with a variety of assessment tools to evaluate students and support the eligibility determination process- Support teachers in developing and implementing supports and providing fine motor visual motor and sensory accommodations- Work in conjunction with multidisciplinary educational teams-Support vocational opportunities for students within specialized programming- Complete needed paper work and job related functions in a timely manner and in compliance with special education regulations- Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as well as attend student support team meetings- Gather collate and/or classify data; generate reports and present findings at meetings- Implement high-tech and low-tech assistive technology based on student needs- Routinely attend district and school-wide meetings trainings and professional development- Maintain compliance with existing laws and professional ethics- Other duties as requested by the Director of Student Services Special Education Coordinator or School Principal
