Job Summary (List Format):
- Location: SEARHCs Haines Mountainside Physical Therapy (occasional off-site/out-of-town travel required)
- Primary Focus: Outpatient physical therapy evaluations and treatments to improve patient functional abilities for a wide range of ages and diagnoses
- Licensure: Must have active Alaska Physical Therapist license at time of submission
- Certifications: Required current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and valid drivers license
- Vaccinations: Must have flu vaccination
- Start Date: Minimum 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received and processed
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assess evaluate and diagnose patients; develop and implement individualized therapy treatment plans
- Serve as primary therapy provider; supervise modify care plans and direct support staff students or interns
- Collaborate with healthcare team attend meetings/rounds and coordinate care/discharge planning
- Document all patient encounters diagnoses treatment plans and outcomes per hospital policy
- Develop and conduct patient/family education and home exercise programs
- Advise on medical equipment needs and facilitate patient independence and self-care
- Assist with clinic administrative operations billing/reimbursement equipment/supply management
- Provide education to staff patients and families; participate in committees projects and continuing education
- Adhere to APTA hospital and regulatory standards confidentiality and quality assurance policies
- Demonstrate sensitivity to cross-cultural issues and practice service excellence
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Physical Demands: Repetitive/heavy lifting up to 50 lbs use of protective equipment potential travel (including remote/harsh conditions) exposure to latex and infectious organisms
- Work Environment: Small fast-paced variety of patient personalities and settings (inpatient outpatient home community remote)
- Required Education/Experience:
- Entry-level masters or doctorate in Physical Therapy (or APTA-approved bachelors with 2 years of experience/continuing education)
- Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal physiology standardized assessments and treatment planning
- Proficient in fitting/training with adaptive devices and durable medical equipment
- Effective written and verbal communication with patients families and interdisciplinary teams
- Proficient with computers and health care information systems
- Sound judgment safety awareness and ability to translate clinical information for diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team contributing to program development and quality improvement
- Other: Position is covered under the Indian Child Protection Act; must demonstrate good judgment tact and interpersonal skills
