Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations a registered nurse and according to established protocol or direction of a physician or nurse practitioner the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) performs a variety of skilled and nursing duties and gives direct nursing care to students in the Student Health Center and performs related work as required.
Furthermore the incumbent provides services that are equitable inclusive and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

The ideal candidate possesses thorough knowledge of nursing care principles practices and basic medications and their effects while making accurate observations within their areas of responsibility. They communicate diplomatically and effectively with practitioners coworkers and support staff maintain strong working relationships and comply fully with HIPAA requirements SHS policies and procedures and EMR access protocols aligned with job functions.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.
Equivalent to a high school diploma and successful completion of a state approved vocational nursing program in an accredited school of vocational nursing or equivalent training and experience as defined by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) required. One year of nursing experience is preferred.
Possess and maintain a valid license as a Vocational Nurse issued by the State of California.
Possession of IV certification preferred.
Possess and maintain valid CPR/AED certification
