Were seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to play a critical role in designing implementing and launching advanced automation and control systems across our manufacturing this role youll go beyond maintaining the status quoyoull help shape the future of our automation strategy by bringing creative practical and scalable control system solutions to life.Lead and support capital equipment procurement projects including specifications supplier selection technical reviews installation and equipment qualification.
Partner with global and cross-functional teams (Design Lean Quality EHS Procurement and Operations) to support new product introductions.
Provide controls engineering expertise across a wide range of applications including:
General automation
Component assembly cells
Customized fabrication equipment
Ensure equipment and tooling designs align with GE Appliances standards including Manufacturing Control Plans (MCP) and Manufacturing Control Instructions (MCI).
Champion safety-first engineering collaborating closely with EHS to ensure systems protect the health and well-being of employees.
Collaborate with automation and robotics engineers to implement innovative cost-effective automation solutions.
Support factory teams with system implementation troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent hands-on experience in technical/manufacturing disciplines.
5 years of hands-on & relevant controls engineering experience with automated manufacturing equipment and processes.
Experience with Rockwell Automation control systems Studio 5000 FactoryTalk View.
Knowledge and practice of machine safety (ISO 13849).
Preferred:
Ability to work in large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members)
Good communication skills will be expected to provide program report outs to cross-functional team
Ability to make decisions and willingness to take ownership of complex projects
Automation integration
Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD
Experience in a large-scale manufacturing environment and capital equipment procurement
Experience with plastics automation
Skilled knowledge of controls software (Rockwell Emerson Siemens) and coding structure for ladder logic. Experience with other controls programming languages such as structured text and function blocks diagram is beneficial.
TUV Certification in machine safety.
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in Louisville KY but may require travel to other locations as needed. The primary work schedule is the 1st shift; however occasional support during weekends 2nd and 3rd shifts may be necessary.
Travel (domestic and international) may be required approximately 20-30% of the time in accordance with project requirements.
