Job Summary

Description

The Sr. Clinician Occupational Therapy assesses plans organizes and participates in the rehabilitative program for developmentally mentally emotionally and physically disabled people. The primary function is to assist in restoring and improving the patients ability to live an independent and fulfilling lifestyle by teaching activities of daily living (ADL) and work skills. Mentors less experienced rehabilitation staff.



Responsibilities

organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness injury or psychological or developmental problems.

and evaluates patients physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.

and participates in health promotion programs group activities or discussions to promote client health facilitate social adjustment alleviate stress and prevent physical or mental disability.

with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinates occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities (Physical Therapy Speech-Language Pathology Therapeutic Recreation).

implements and coordinates social activities and programs to help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps.

constructive activities suited to individuals physical capacity intelligence level and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence prepare individual for return to employment assists in restoration of functions and aid in adjustment to disability.

patients progress and prepares reports that detail progress.

and maintains necessary records.

caregivers how to provide for the needs of a patient during and after therapy.

changes in patients work or living environments consistent with their needs and capabilities.

individuals skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates individuals progress.

conduct training programs or participate in training medical and nursing students and Occupational therapists in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

plan direct and coordinate occupational therapy program as requested by Director.

other related duties.



Qualifications
  • 3 years minimum experience in a hospital setting providing therapy to patients.
  • Active NYS Occupational Therapy licensure
  • Registered Occupational Therapist from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
